    New Project Requiring EXPERT assistance

.After building up a successful development team during the Edit4o7 project (http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hitman47/), we're looking to add new developers to the ranks to work on a new massive multiplayer game.

Currently, the project is in basic development and any new additions to the team would play an important role in it's concepts.

We're currently looking for expert peeps with C++ and MFC knowledge with any OpenGL and D3D experience a big plus.

We're also looking for 3D Max modellers and any 2D and 3D graphic artists.

With commercial opportunities and project sponsorship volunteers to the project may see some very benefical rewards during development.

Please contact Chris @ : [email protected] for more details on the project and applications to join

    Hey DeejayC!

Recently a friend of mine (by the alias Psyvision) left our project Times of War to work on Edit4o7. I'd like to know how everything went with that!

I'm good with 2d graphics though I would only be able to lend a hand for maybe half an hour a day (tops!) because of my project (see above). What kind of graphics do you need? I use Paint, PhotoPaint and PaintShopPro.

    If you'd like to see some of my work look at this guy;

    <---

    I made him in Paint.

    Hey Sastraxi,

PsyVision is still with us, though he will only be helping us out on a limited capacity on our new project: Binary Planet [ http://www.digitalcorruption.co.uk/web/binaryplanet/ ]. To find out why the project had ended slightly prematurely, feel free to read the forums over at [ http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hitman47/ ].

Well we're interested in anyone who thinks they can help us out. Do you have experience of 3D texture creation (in Paint, Photoshop etc.)?

Also, any programming experience in C++, MFC, OpenGL or D3D would be a distinct advantage

Its is unfortunate that the Editor4o7 project ended.

    BUT

This is a dedicated team base that is set up here with users such as Chris (deejayc), Tim and Psyche. They are all good workers and organised so if you were thinking about if the project would fall through due too lack of organisation, IT WONT.

This game is gonna be HOT !

Get on board for the fun of coding it and to know u have created something new for the world to play !!

Binary Planet is currently still in the planning stage and not a piece of code has been written yet, but this is where it is most benefical for peeps to join, because then they can have a valid impact on the design and concept of the game.

We already have a large fan-base, especially for a project in the planning stage, after crowds(!) followed us from the Hitman (Edit4o7) development.

We can't really release details about Binary Planet or how it'll work etc. because we're still dreaming a lot of it up - but as PsyVision just mentioned, this project is going to be a good one.

Artists, programmers or anyone who feels they can make a valid addition to the team, drop me a line.

*Thanks to PsyVision for the supportive post *

In response to your post Sastraxi, don't worry about the programming, can you provide a link to your work or something?

PsyVision speaks very highly of you, so don't worry if you don't have anything "mind blowing"

Like Zaei I probably wouldn't even have time because I'm making a website, designing, and drawing up lots of stuff for Times of War. I don't really have a "profile" per se but I don't think my kind of graphics would be good for your needs anyways. I probably dont have the time as well like I clued in my 2nd post.

But if there's ever a time where you need someone to do something graphical you can email me and I'll see what I can do.

It's being redesigned, the old design was too complicated and moreover never got finished.

Just one thing... After looking at your FAQ, I have a question. First, you say that crimes will be punished with account bans, yet the next minute you say that you have to be careful at night, so as to avoid gangs, brutal murders, etc. This seems to be a bit oxymoronic. You have already said that if you commit a crime, you will get banned. So, there is no reason to commit a crime, or form a gang, etc.

Basically, you are trying to simulate life. Everquest is popular, not because you can play with 15000 other people, but because you can get away from your life, and step into one that you could never possibly live. Your game seems to be trying to create an alternate reality, almost exactly like the real one. To be blunt, it sounds fairly boring. I mean no insult, but... you know.

Everyone to their own, but to be honest you obvisouly have not read the FAQ or forum correctly. The idea behind the game is to give free reign and to allow the player to interact with not only other players but hundreds of objects and concepts. They are technically there to live a digital life. Now, many may choose to commit murder or steal a car, instead of them getting away with it - IF - stress that - they get caught, they can be punished. The idea behind that concept is to provoke emotions and feelings that you would get if you were to commit a crime in real life.

There are many concepts which are there to appeal to many and if you don't like it, well don't play it. Maybe the FAQ didn't cover all aspects of the game, but as we've already discovered, those who can see the potential to the project have already seen the amount of fun it could be. Perhaps read about it a little more and engage your brain before you judge... you know... no offence or anything.

None taken. The FAQ was worded poorly. I was under the impression that if you commited a crime, you would be banned, temporarily. This struck me as somewhat stupid. Probably a more appropriate action would be to charge the account owner's REAL credit card. Even at 50cents - 5 dollars, you could make some serious money.

Anyway, back to the topic... Will there be PC policemen? If so, what kind of clues will you drop for catching criminals? Sure, many leave obvious trails, such as blood, etc, but what about finger prints? Checking trashcans, or finding small strands of hair?
Even blood may be a problem...It would end up as an entity, because the player might have to clean it up, or collect a sample, not to mention the fact that it has to stay there until it IS cleaned up, which would cause a slowdown in rendering speed.

Anyway, enough for now. As I'm sure you know, with a project of this size and complexity, planning is very important. You should try to come up with as many scenarios as possible before writing a single line of code, as many of your descisions may have consequences that you must address at the engine level, and not at the game logic level.

In a very minimalistic way I could help you. I am working on fora for the ToW website, and the ASP coding is almost complete. Since all of the styling comes from a CSS sheet (or will actually ), you can change it to any style you want.. Just a thought, when I finish it you could look at the source, modify it, and deploy it on your website instead of using that EZBoard junk.

I'm not to keen on the EzBoard stuff either. However, Sas, you're talking to a professional web developer, so if we were to redesign something, I'd more than likely do it.

Thanks for asking however, it's appreciated

As for you Z, your comments are taken onboard and I can assure you we've already done a lot of planning. Most have had no problem getting to grips with what the game will be like or how it will work... so you're the anomoly.

    Regardless, thanks for you comments.
