How much to charge for a project
Hi,
I asked a similar question here long ago but since then things
have changed. I wrote this program at work (I work in a hospital lab) that continuously keeps tracks of uncompleted tests. With
the system we use, it is a godsend. My boss said they have no plans
to sell or use the code and I can "consult" and provide other hospitals with the program independently. We are not in the
business of software so it's not a big deal. Anyway it's custom
programming that I can and will have to do individually. But I have NO IDEA what to charge for this thing! PLEASE give me a clue! These other hospitals also have NO IDEA what would be a fair price for it, if they do they certainly aren't telling me. I just need a ballpark range here. Please give me some feedback here!
Thanks!

We need to have more information about the program first.

charge as much as you think they will pay for it... if its something very important that can save a hospital tons of time/money than shoot high...
Government is another way to say better…than…you.
It’s like ice but no pick, a murder charge that won’t stick,
it’s like a whole other world where you can smell the food,
but you can’t touch the silverware.
Huh, what luck. Fascism you can vote for.
Humph, isn’t that sweet?
And we’re all gonna die some day, because that’s the American way

This program was hard to make because the software we use:
Does not support 3-dimensional arrays
Doesn't do database or SQL
Has no array-sorting functions

Just a suggestion, I would make your options form an options dialog box that has different tabs on it:
General Folders Sounds Pictures Errors
This would help reduce the cluttered look and overwhelmingness (is that a word?) of it.

Did you write up requirements for this application when it was handed to you? If not, why don't you write up a program specification for me. You will have to do it in the future any way.
As a general rule of thumb, charge between $35 - $50 per man hour that it took to develop the application and $75 per hour for any customation the client requires.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll probably ask for about $300 for it,
if they refuse I can always offer less.
