subscribe to forum...???
What does subscribing to a forum do?

Well ...
It's nothing much. You have to shell out $3.89 per forum so that you can post questions into the forums and receive replies to the same.
And you can mail me the check.
He he, seriously I don't know myself. The only significance is that if you subscribe to a forum, you will be notified if there are any new posts in that forum. Don't know if that's a great help.
PS: That $3.89 stuff at the top is crap, just in case you are new here.

uhm, if you read my info, I'm not exactly new here
I always get post notifications, "so and so has replied to your post on the thread entitled yada yada"
Or do you mean notifications of new threads? I haven't gotten any of those...been subscribed to the general q&a forum all week, not a single "new thread" email.

Don't think you get emailed when there's a new thread, you normally get an email if someone has posted a reply to a thread. That's what I got anyway, until I turned it off (got waaay too many emails)
If you subscribe to a particular forum then you will get an email everytime someone posts in that forum

Well ...
If you are subscribed to any threads, as soon as there is a new post in the thread you will get an email.
If you are subscribed to forums, however, click the User cp link at the top and go to My vB Home section. You will find the links to all the forums you have subscribed to appearing there. And in case there have been new posts or threads in any of these forums, you will find their icons have turned yellowish. Else they will remain darkened, to indicate there have been no new posts since you last visited these forums.
In case of unsubscribed forums, you will not get this info from your vB Home.

Subscribing does nothing useful at all. The only benefit is the life size poster of Madeline Albright which comes out around christmas and an invite to the Desert Dash & Treasure Hunt planned this January for Afghanistan. Organisers say it is still going ahead at this stage although there have been very few female entrants.

Eh, subscribing is stupid, why'd they add it in??? You can tell if there's new posts on the main page

Maybe in sites where there are tons of forums you can only see the forums that you're interested in. It sound kinda stupid so I think we're missing something on this subscription thing...

Yeah i have never used it even tho i am supposedly subscribed to general q&a. I suspect that some whiner (no clues needed i hope) probably demanded it in a tantrum and it got included. hell i dunno. I take it that you no longer want the poster. Your loss!

Well ...
If it had been so implemented that after logging in, or when a logged in user returned to the VB Forums website, if the User cp was the first page to be displayed, sort of a start up page, it would have been a little more useful.
