I have a great opportunity with a company in Boca Raton, FL. I currently live in the Florida Panhandle. The position is for an ASP developer with e-commerce web development
experience and the following other skills:
HTML, DHTML, VB and MTS.
Database knowledge (ODBC, ADO, JDBC)
Knowledge of XML and Java
Knowledge of emerging Web technologies a plus!!
Candidate should be able to design and develop in a structured software
development methodology.
I have 95% of these skills and have been told I look great for this position. They want to know what my current salary is andmy expectations for this position. I can easily give them my current pay, but what should I ask for with them. It will require a major move. I don't want to bid the job too low and end up working for nothing but I also do not want to bid too high and scare them away. What should I tell them?
Thanks for you advice in advance.

It all depends on what the new company can do for you.. stock options, help you move, help you sell your house, help you buy a new house, that kinda thing. As for the pay, I would say anything above a 35% increase is acceptable.
Just my $0.35

Many if you give them proof of a financial situation you are in, they might be generous and raise it higher than you expected.

thanks for response
MrShickadance and Megatron,
Thank you so much for your advice. It has been helpful. I got a lead today of what they are willing to pay and I am now more confident in what to ask.
If anyone else has any advice on this topic please continue to input. I check this site regularly.
