Hunting them down
I got a file devldr32.exe that gets executed three times at xp startup, I've tracked it down to three files, renamed them and restart but no luck, they keep executing at startup. I can of course kill them with task manager but the annoying part is that they eat a lot of cpu.
How do i terminate them for good? They are part of creative soundblaster live! software that i have installed (and i also removed all parts except the drivers) but i don't need devldr32.exe for my drivers to work.
I've searched trough the registry, win.ini and system.ini and it's not listed there.

Why not just delete them. If they're not there, they can't open surely

Whenever I killed the process in Windows 2000 my computer wouldn't shut down so you might have to keep them running.

Now it instantiated a new file with the same name in it's place
What should i do? make a simple do-nothing-exe file in it's place and make it readonly?

Is windowsXP backuping the drivers and restore them in case they get deleted or damaged?

Yeah it's freaky, anyways it doesn't seem to do anything evil now. not eating cpu as much as before. The problem was probably that there were 3 of them getting stuck with something as all of them wanted to do it at the same time or something
Odd thing is, after terminating the files, the comp restarted at times when i ran a specific file. Then after replacing the file with donothing app and testing to run the donothing app (named after the evil one) the comp restarted immediately, and it happened twice

btw, when i first installed the drivers, that was about some 3 weeks ago, it said that it haven't passed windows logon tests, and i had some problems to make them work. The drivers will probably work well in win2k or any other OS. I've been looking for driver updates for xp at creative's site but nothing yet :/
