does anyone know where the settings are for my File | New menu....for example when i right click to create a new folder....I have so many programs installed on my machine, there are literally like 35 items in the 'New' submenu. Needless to say, it takes forever for this thing to load just for me to create a new folder....I want to chop all that other garbage out of there...can anyone help? Thanks!

Talking Not VB, but I'll help

Let's say there's a item there called Garbage, that when you click it, it creates a file called New Garbage.ABC and you want to remove it.
Notice the extension - ABC - because that's all you need to remember.
    1. Open the Registry Editor (Start -> Run -> Regedit.exe).
    2. Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
    3. Look for .ABC (yes, with the period in the beginning). It's not necessarily all upper case.
    4. It should have a plus sign next to it. Click it.
    5. From all the new directories that pop up, one of them should be ShellNew (or maybe it's the only one).
    6. Delete the ShellNew directory. NOT THE .ABC DIRECTORY!
    7. If you followed all this correctly, the entry Garbage should now be removed from the New menu.

There's a program called Tweak UI that lets you select what you want or don't want in the New menu. This program is helpful so that you don't have to go into the registry to clean out the stuff everytime you install a new application. It should come on the Windows 98 First Edition CD if you have one. I'm not sure about Win 95 and I know it's not on the Second Edition. You can also download it at the Microsoft website (which, I think, is extremely difficult to use).
