    The Oxymoron thread

    Okay lets see how many funny oxymorons that everyone knows

    the classics

    Military Intelligence
    Dark night
    Quiet noise
    Bright Light
    slowly quickened

    rudvs2: I hope you don't mind me pointing this out, but an oxymoron is a figure of speech in which contradictory words are used, so "Dark night" and "Bright Light" don't work (they are redundencies). Also oxymorons are phrases that are commonly used, like "Military Intelligence", the first one you listed, so "Quiet noise" doesn't work because nobody would say that. Having said all that, here are a couple:

    Good government
    Sweet sorrow

    Also like your "Military Intelligence" and my "Good government", a figure of speech is only an oxymoron if you are being sarcastic.
