Is there a way of sending native ASCII to a shared network com port?

There is a standard Epson POS Printer on a std. Windows Network.

Mapping to a generic text only printer thru windows only enables sending of plain text losing paper cut commands etc.

This is a little off topic (windows rather than VB) but a little assistance would be greatly appreciated.
