    Help with DirectX

    I downloaded an Open Source 3d engine called Genesis 3d. I am not able to run the demo game that it includes or a game that i bought called Swat 3. I have Direct X 8 on my computer. What happens is the games (demo on Genesis 3d, and also Swat3) will run for about 5 seconds--- when i press a key --- (to try to move) the game just shuts off and goes back to windows....

    Any ideas????

    PS --- it's a Gateway 466 Mhz with 128 Mb Ram --- the video card --- is nonexistent -- it's one of those computers that uses the systems ram for video memory --- (shared)

    If the demo uses DX8 exclusivly, the reason is that you have no video accelerator. There is no software rendering component, and it requires a vid card. Swat 3 may be the same way, I dont know.

    Swat 3 is - no configuration or anything.

    My advice: Go out there and get yerself a Geforce2 or Radeon 7500.
    All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
