but what happens when you get really rich and decide to have more than 26 IDE devices? What comes after Z:?

I'd like to be able to make custom Drive anchors {I don't think they could be called Logical Drives anymore though}
But, if you Network, you could just start making shortcuts.

Well I don't have that many IDE devices, but if you look in the drive letters available for mapping, that only goes up to Z.
So maybe when you get that far you'll be stuck?

Maybe if you wanted to map to every computer's HDD in a large building, you'd have a problem...
How about doing an Excel job...
A B C ... X Y Z AA AB AC ... AX AY AZ

You would never have 26 local drives. First of all, A and B assigned for Floppy/Zip/Floppy120, so it leaves you with 24.
Then you probably have CD-ROM/DVD so it leaves you with 22. Now.......you will never have enough IRQs for your devices,

Once I made a logical Drive juggler, where clicking a hot button
reconfigs your connections to one of many saved strategies.
