Registration Code

This isn't really vb related. But, I was curious, since most of you probably have your own business. Is there a way to setup some kind of process so as soon as a user orders from my website, it goes thru payment processing/merchant account blah blah then sends a user a unique registration code. Has anyone heard of anything like this before? I want to automate the process of how the user gets their code.

Any suggestions would be helpful
