Daok Team - Operation:Untouchable-
Well, I do not have any project for moment I since I never really made any game with Vb I think I want to make one but I do not know how to use BitBlt a lot so I might be interesting to start any kind of game with some one who have any good knowledge with Bitblt.
It can be a RPG, adventure game, shooter ( like DukeNukem 2D ) or any other suggestion.

I don't have much game experience but i would look at this project as a learning expierience like you if that would be okay. But i understand also if you would prefer some ppl with game coding under ther belt.

Great, we will need to setup the team
Programmer
Artist ( make picture )
This is some scenario of game I have in mind :
1-What you think about a stryle of game in 2d like Mario but the guys have a gun ( like DukeNukem 1-2 ).
2-The other one can be something like a RPG but a lots of person do that.
3-Another idea I got it's to make something like StarCraft ( but really more little ). But I think than this project will be very hard.
4-A adventure game ( view is like zelda in Nintendo 8 bits ) and we think to a goal of our heros have to do.
An other thing we have to think is how we will move the heroes ? With the mouse or the keyboard.

I like the first idea. I 2d mario interface type game. Something perhaps like the game Contra? Ever heard of it? was a game for the first nintendo. Something based on that would be cool perhaps. Something special ops or military based.
That's what i think.
Let me know!

Yes we can do something better but the idea is cool.
For person who want to start the project with me I recommend to read this tutorial about Gaming who take about 20 minutes to read. ( I am currently reading that tutorial about Tile, Bitblt and more).

We will need the main character in few. I am searching in the Net but if someone can make one that can be cool ( or find one ).
We need 10 pictures:
2 move to the right ( feet change position)
2 move to the left
2 move to the right with gun
2 move to the left with gun
2 person jumping
about that that can change I dont know I think that the ideal

I don't care, for the moment I will take one of these solution but for the final version I think it will be more cool to have our own heros.

Well if we just find 1 picture we can simply mirror it and make the gun. Lets try just to find the heros person.
For moment I have done the running part with the jump part. I really like how it look for the first 12 hours I will send the project in 1 hours ( when I will spot working on it ) and will re-work on it only when I will be back of school tommorow night so If any want to work on what I did feel free.

BTW, do we have a way to have transparent colors? Beacsue sprites have a background and we would want it to be transparent.
I also like this sprite

Very good dude, that will help us, for the heros background, we will use Bitblt who will put all the white into transparence but we will have to work on that ( I never tryed that but everybody seem to like Bitblt).

http://www.vbexplorer.com/gdi1.asp This can help us with animation of the heros and ennemie.
This is the step I think we should work:
1-BE able to move the heros and be able to jump obstacle and to be blocked by obstacle.
2-Make the map drawing
3-Make the Bitblt heros
4-Make the heros shoot
5-Create statis ennemie ( turret for exemple )
6-Make ennemie who have AI
7- Make an intro ( only at the end )
8- Make other level ( only when the first one will be complete at 100%.

Also will we be animating the movements like walking and what not?

You can try to use the Bitblt with the picture. To do the animation of walking i think we can do that with only a variable who change:
Exemple : the variable speed each pair number = legs open and impair = close so taht will do open/close/open/close...but that might not work if he 's at his max speed so we should just create a variable with 3 states : 1- stop 2-open leg 3-close leg
when speed is =0 then state = 1 else
state switch to 2 to 3, 3 to 2. Well I think we should work on the Bitblt ( like in the FOX tutorial).
I will go take a shower and think to a name.
