    Question Top Hosting companies

I need to set up a domain + hosting for a website I'm doing for a small business.

Up-to now i've just used the free services for sites that I've created.

I would like some advice on a good hosting company. That supplies the bare essentials package for as cheap as possible!

The site is only going to be about 10 pages max, not to bothered about being able to write my own scripts, providing you can customise there feedback forms etc....

I'd prefer one thats reliable and doesn't host 1000's of sites on one server ( eg really slow ).

    Cheers !

I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

    And they're good are they?

how much does it cost u ?

It says $12.95 a month if u pay for a month up front. Is that what you pay or are there hidden extras?

    Cheers!

The site is only for a small business, so it will only be about 10 pages.

I will only require support for Perl or VBscript or PHP ( whichever I'm not fussy ), as i want to be able to create a feedback form!

I've been looking round but you see one price then you look deeper and find out you have to pay a lot more!

    Thanks again!

VBScript, are you talking about ASP? as VBScript is client side and only works on IE browsers

If its only ten pages, im sure anything with CGI support (for mail forms etc) will do

    Thanks Filburt1, however I want a www.yourdomain.com site

I could host it on there and buy domain that redirects to that site. That would be slow though!!

ASP is a technology that can use any ActiveX scripting language. By default that's VbScript and JScript, you can add PerlScript if you want (these all work client or server on Windows, as long as they're installed).

Anyway, Burlee might have charged me a US$20 or $30 setup fee - I can't remember, but it'll say on their site. Other than that, I went with the $12.95 prepay deal, and it's been pretty good. I use their windows plan with ftp (I don't like Frontpage) and it supports ASP and Perl/PerlScript. SQL Server is extra, but you can use Access if you don't want to pay.

    Here's one:

They are really reasonable in their prices. I haven't used them yet. Currently I use Brinkster for the site and Dotster for the domain name.
