I got my internet exsplorer to connect to one of my VB programs over the internet but i when i try and get the ip it the last couple numbers of my ip like 11.11.11.** the asterixs would keep changing so i cant keep track of who is connectin to my web server. someone please tell me a way to get the correct ip.!!!!!

If I understand you right, then welcome to the world of DHCP. DHCP allows each computer to contact a central server to obtain an IP address, so it is normal if your IP changes periodically.

Okay If i understand you correctly

You have an app thats running on a computer connected to the net! This app is a server app that you have clients connecting to

Your problem is that the server apps ip number keeps changing!

If that is the case then the only way you are going to resolve this without emailing everycompter that uses your client with each ip adress change

Is to get yourself a static ip. Even if you are using cable (dsl) unless you have requested a static IP address your IP will change every couple of weeks

If you are using a dial up modem your ip will change each time you dial up.

the problem wasnt that my servers ip was changin it was that the clients ip was changin. The clients connect to the server using internet explorer. and every time they connected the end of their ip changed. I think i solved the problem by cutting it down the program only recognizes the first 3 parts of the ip. it has nothin to do with static ips because normaly conections would work fine its just that internet explorer seems to screw things up.

by the way im just using a VB program i made because i cant seem to cgi to work. if u wana check out my website once its done u can look at http://www.geocities.com/flamewavetech right now it will just try to connect to my ip and it probably wont be able to because my server wont be on. but its a Kids Trivia site that allows u to create logins and passwords and keep track of ur score.

also could someone supply me with code to order the items in a listbox from least to greatest. all the items in the list box will be numbers.
