Vb resource editor... wierd??

i read the post about vb coming with a built in resource editor,
so I fired it up....
it loaded ok...
I opened it....
couldnt figure out how to use it... this was ok, I dont know how to use alot of things..
but the very odd thing was, when i clicked on the goodbye box(little "X" in the top right corner of the app.)
my computer shut down and restarted....
has this happened to anybody else?
