Re: Post Race!
All we did was gut it, remove the head, and bake it. It came out so delicious.

The skin peeled right off and you could scrape the meat off the bone with just a spoon.

Re: Post Race!
Went fishing with some adults when I was a kid. My uncle caught a flounder(this was fresh water), it was was fairly big. But no one in our group had ever seen a flounder before and they are a very strange looking fish. No one wanted to even touch it. So he ended up cutting his line and let it swim away. lol

Re: Post Race!
Flounder look weird for sure, but man, they taste soooooo good. The water is technically brackish, but I had caught a small redfish just after him which makes me think this was a saltwater flounder.

Re: Post Race!
I absolutely love redfish, but this one was so small that it hadn't turned red yet and at first, I thought it might have been a croaker. But once I saw the signature dot on its tail I was like "oh man, this is just a small redfish".

Re: Post Race!
His flounder was the only one we kept that day. It was at about 10", which is good enough to cook.

Re: Post Race!
My son's a "boy's boy" which makes it so much easier for me. Anytime I want my fish cleaned/fileted or animals cleaned, he always volunteers to do it for me.

And by "volunteers", I mean that I say "hey boy, go clean that" and he says "yes sir"

Re: Post Race!
I didn't know flounder would ever go into fresh water. I've only known them in salt water.

Re: Post Race!
The river we were fishing is fresh water but we were close to were the river and the SF Bay delta join. So there might be some salt water involved. It was Rio Vista, CA., I don't know the area real well.
This is what Google has to say,
Rio Vista, California is a charming, small city of about 10,000 residents in Solano County. Located in the Sacramento River Delta about 50 miles south of Sacramento and 60 miles northeast of San Francisco, it is known as the "Heart of the Delta" and offers a peaceful, rural-suburban lifestyle.
I have fished various places in the Delta (the delta is a maze), mainly caught catfish and stripers.

Re: Post Race!
There is definitely freshwater flounder, but most of the ones I have ever caught have been saltwater.

Re: Post Race!
Have you ever caught a minotaur while fishing in that maze?

Re: Post Race!
I rarely watch soccer. Like with the World Cup going on, I'll back the US national team just because... why not? But I can honestly say that I might have watched a grand total of 5 minutes of this World Cup.

Re: Post Race!
For the first time EVERY I had a soccer game on the TV last night, the Mexico vs Ecuador match. But that was only because my son came over for dinner and his girlfriend is from Mexico. I can't say that I actually watched it but it was on while I was cooking.
My son was a fairly good soccer player as a kid. He played youth soccer for 8yrs.
