We were a bit worried about the weather, considering we were driving in a truck without a shell. Only one person had some luggage that might have been waterproof, and the forecast was for rain. As it turned out, we did get a few drops, but were mostly all in the hotel by the time the rain really got going. The luggage was all in the hotel.

I don't care if my laundry gets washed on the drive home, but I don't really want it getting washed on the way out. Then you have to hang it out to dry everywhere.

Well, he certainly doesn't. I've gotten after him about that in the past when I saw him posting at a time that appeared to be around 2 AM.

He also is good about one point per post, so if he has something to say on two topics, such as a note on how to get a better answer as well as an answer, then he'll separate them into two different posts. This is pretty minor, of course. Compared to the fact that he can answer any question, that is quite small.

For many years, I've had a NAS located in a strange, hidden, space in a wall of my house. Unfortunately, the NAS software worked with Win 7 and before, which is quite out of date. There wasn't much on there, though there are a few things that would be of some slight interest to me. It clearly didn't matter much, as I haven't dealt with it in many years.

Yesterday, I tried to upgrade my main computer. In doing so, I eventually concluded that the power switch on the case had taken that opportunity to fail. I considered just buying another case, but I have so many lying around. After considering, I realized that the Win 7 computer I had by the treadmill, used the same case as the main computer, except that the power switch worked. However, that was the only Win 7 system I had left, so it was the only one that could connect to the NAS.

Therefore, I tried to connect to the NAS....it was password protected, and by now, I haven't the faintest idea what the password is, nor even the user name.

After thinking it over for a bit, I realized that I simply wouldn't be able to figure out that password. It has likely been over a decade since I used any part of that system.

Therefore, I gave up and used the case for the upgraded system. It worked, and I'm writing this on the new system, so the issue really was the switch. I knew it was acting weird, I didn't realize it was failing.

So, now I have a NAS that has stuff I haven't looked at in over a decade, and which I can't currently get into. However, it's just a block of older style drives in a RAID array. I think that I should be able to take one of them out, put it into some other device, and get the contents off of it.

And if not...well, I haven't used it in so long that I'm not sure what is even on there.

Had a strange one today. My internet was soooo slow. Tested it and it was @ .3Mbps, usually runs @ 50. Was like that all day until @ 5pm then it was back to normal. I've had the internet go out many times but never run that slow.

You didn't test often enough. What you should have done is one test per minute until the speed improved, even if that didn't happen until 5 PM, as you say.
