Re: Post Race!
There was a physical speaker built into the cases of early PCs. Later on, there were a couple leads on the motherboard where you could plug in a speaker if you wanted to, but you weren't required to. I'm not sure those leads even exist anymore, at least not on a lot of motherboards.

Re: Post Race!
As I got older, the scenes of the roadrunner being stopped cold by putting out birdseed, started to bother me more and more. There was even a GEICO add where the gecko met the road runner. A real road runner would LOVE to meet a gecko. It wouldn't be so interested in seeds, though.

Considering all the absurdity and violence in that cartoon, why that??? It wasn't my favorite cartoon, I prefer ones with dialog.

Re: Post Race!
I used to love Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner. I watched a ton of Looney Toons growing up and it was the "filler" between Bugs Bunney episodes. It was the perfect segway in my opinion.

Yeah, Segways are pretty stupid, so perfect is a low bar.

The roadrunner annoyed me because it was clearly, "the road runner is a bird, therefore it eats birdseed." They don't.

Of course, there was more dialogue when Bugs filled in for the road runner.

I must have missed something big while I was away. Why do you look like you're about to service a nuclear reactor?

Because our Crew-Chief for the Cleanroom went nuclear because their tablets didn't work

Re: Post Race!
At one point, I found mushrooms growing out of the carpet in the legislative office building in the New Hampshire statehouse. I assume the floor under the carpet was concrete, rather than some rich organic material, so where those mushrooms were getting nutrients from was beyond me, but these were not small mushrooms.
Of course, that also meant there was a leak of long standing.

I'm a bit surprised at that. The face covering appears to be a simple, if extensive, mask. So, they are catching MOST shed hair and skin cells, aside from the face, but it sure seems like they could have gone just a bit further by incorporating the mask into the hood such that all breath would have had to go through a more secure filter, and any face skin wouldn't be an issue. Perhaps not a full on respirator mask, but it still seems like they went 90% of the way and then said, "ah, whatever. Good enough!"

Well, IT IS an ISO Class 6 Cleanroom, so we have "cleaner" air than NASA....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleanroom
The lower the "Class Number" the cleaner the air, meaning: ISO Class 1 --> vacuum in outer space

There are several tens of thousands of users, and there has been all day. That seems a bit high. It doesn't count as a denial of service, since we can generally still get on, but how about an Annoyance of Service?

I assume that the slowdown is due to the massive number of users, but I don't normally pay any attention to the number of users, so it may not be massive.

Whatever it is, it went away for a bit about half hour ago, bringing users down to about 2,500. But it's now climbing again at a rate of 100 users per second and is currently over 56,000.
