Nobody can be all that well defined by a single word...well, now that I think about it, I DO know a few people who can be pretty thoroughly defined by a single word, but not THAT single word.
I'm pretty easily defined in one word. "omnipotent"

But I'm sure that's been obvious to everyone.

As I am omniscient I knew that. Also being omnipresent I knew that before you posted. And being omnibenevolent I'll overlook your vanity.

I agree. Whenever use the term "conservative" I am referring to it in the American sense since it's a concept that largely doesn't exist where I'm from. Where I am from a conservative would just be a normal person though there is not complete overlap between American conservatism and similar values systems that exist outside of the USA.

The Supreme Court didn't postpone Trumps sentencing. Good for them. The sentencing will be inconsequential to Trump but I'm glad they did the right thing.

It bothers me that the four justices that voted against the sentencing didn't even bother to give a reason. I would have like to hear how they justified voting to postpone.

US aviation giant Boeing has told BBC News it is donating $1m (£812,600) to an inauguration fund for President-elect Donald Trump.
Google has also confirmed that it has made a similar donation as the two firms join a growing list of major American companies contributing to the fund.
The list also includes oil producer Chevron and technology giants Meta, Amazon and Uber.

"Google is pleased to support the 2025 inauguration, with a livestream on YouTube and a direct link on our homepage," said Karan Bhatia, Google's global head of government affairs and public policy. !!!!

I don't believe the Supreme Court has the power to issue pardons. Presidents do. Personally I think that's ass backward but, none the less, that's what applies.

Further, I think the case being sentenced was state level so even a Presidential pardon wouldn't apply (they can only be applied to federal crimes).

    Re: Post election prediction

    Ye not sure either.

I was not following closely tho not sure what happened after this:

"Hunter Biden has been found guilty on all three charges in his federal gun trial, becoming the first son of a sitting US president to be criminally convicted."

Biden said "I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal."
Was there a pardon after a conviction, where we waited a conviction? Not sure.

    Re: Post election prediction

The sentencing (or lack of) is confusing to me. The judge and others keep siting the immunity the Supreme court recently granted the presidental position. But if I'm not mistaken hush money happened while he was running for the presidency in 2016. So I don't see how the Supreme Court ruling applies. And, if it does apply, how could the conviction stand.

I've always felt the Supreme Court function was being the last line of defense for protecting constitutional law. I'd like to see it limited to those issues.

I definitely would like to see term limits.

Yeah, there has been a lot of ring kissing of the soon to be president and wannabe dictator. Musk has shown how profitable that can be. It's no secret Trumps friendship is for sale.

It's a business decision, not a cultural change.

I think the only reason you don't hear the Dems talking about that is it's already so well known. If you point it out people would just go,

    Well Duh!!

It's also been well know from long before he ran for president that he was "open for business". He often sold his name to so called property developers. They'd pay him so they could say the homes/condos any various other things were "Trump" properties. Some people made the mistake of prepaying for their condo and then they were never built.

I've been following this thing with Mark. I have 2 thoughts about this. One, he perhaps was always a free speech guy but lacked the courage of figures like Jordan Peterson so when speaking up was hard he chose the coward's way and submitted to the left. Now that Americans have shown where they really stand by electing Trump, he feels safe to be himself.

My second thought was that perhaps he is just a weasel with no spine that goes along with whatever he feels the majority wants.

To be honest, I wished he stayed as he was because I could at least respect him for standing for what he believed in, even if it was total insanity. Him changing sides makes me like him even less now because he should have done it when it really mattered. I have zero respect for wishy-washy people like that.

    I have another opinion.
Zucky was among many that censorship news about fakevid and fakeccines as he clearly states now.So back then, he got filed a lawsuit from the institution that was bound to reveal those fact and was constantly censored (true or false we are not looking at this now) and that happened to have had Kennedy as president. As it turns out Kennedy will have a key position to the new government and I don't think he will let Zue get away so easily so he is currently crapping his pants right now.
But it's not long now to see what will happen.

Yeah, he's totally pro free speech as long as you advocate for H1B visas. Oppose those and he bans you. Because "American jobs for American people"... as long as they're crappy jobs.

To be clear, you are not getting a free internet and the fact that Trump has been able to threaten Facebook into toeing his line should disturb anyone.

I posted a while back that Trump was not a fascist on the basis that he wasn't centralising power and wasn't a military expansionist. Given that he's now taking pride in threatening companies into following his whim and that he's threatening military force against allied sovereign states because he wants their resources, those two exceptions no longer apply and he now meets the literal dictionary definition for fascism.

You probably don't use Twitter so you don't know but I use it extensively and I am telling you, Musk did what he said he would do. Twitter was extremely restrictive in what you were allowed to post there before Musk took over. Now, you really have to go out of your way to get a suspension on Twitter. So don't believe the hype.

Yes he bans people for saying things he doesn't like and many times even I don't agree but I can never forget how much worse it used to be before Musk. I really cannot stress enough how bad it was. It was very draconian. There was almost nothing you could say on old Twitter and not get suspended. Now, there are just a couple of things you can't say. As users we get a far better deal from Musk than from the old regime.

There was almost nothing you could say on old Twitter and not get suspended.
I don't believe that, considering the millions of people that were using it on a daily basis. So there was a lot being said without being banned.

It sounds to me like you like what's allowed now and what's not allowed isn't a major issue to you. Musk's censorship is more palatable to you.

I think your expecting the impossible. People in these positions aren't there because of their political beliefs, they're businessmen. They make business decisions. They may try to frame it as a social decision so they are viewed more favorably. Musk did a good job of that a few years ago when he switched to the Republican party. But truth was the Dem's policies were starting to cost him money so he switched. He loved being a democrat when they were giving Tesla and the people buying them all kinds of tax breaks.

I started on Twitter around the time when the Musk takeover was looming, I spend more time on that site than any other except YouTube and I have 15,200+ posts there, a little less than twice the amount I have here, so why do you think you know more than I do about what goes on over there?

In most cases I'd agree with you but not this one. The old regime on Twitter went way too far and they had to be stopped regardless of the financial consequences. There are some things that are more important than money. Mark Zuckerberg would have done the same thing if he wasn't so spineless.

I never said I new more about what goes on there. I said I don't believe this.

For that to be true, millions of people would have to be suspended daily considering 100's of millions of tweets posted per day. That didn't happen.

Well you better believe it. While I came to the party late, I did come in time to experience some of old Twitter and I am telling you, when Musk took over and lifted all the speech restrictions, Twitter changed overnight. There was a deluge of thought the likes of which had never been seen on Twitter before. I saw in real time Twitter change from a left wing echo chamber to a vibrant community with an unparalleled diversity of thought. No matter what you believe in or what you values are, I guarantee you can now find a community of like-minded individuals on Twitter. This was not the case pre-Musk and it is still not the case on many big sites like Reddit. So where were all these voices?

I would estimate based on my experience that a good 70% to 80% of what you see on Twitter today would not have been allowed before Musk took it. I cannot stress enough how much Twitter restricted speech in the old days. It was just unbelievably draconian like something out of dystopian fiction. I am not joking.

Sorry, your opinions aren't facts and carry very little weight with me. But then again, my opinion isn't important either. lol

    Funny.
Even if Trump and Musk start putting out files, even if major conviction made (I'm not saying they will be but it's a scenario). Even if Zuk said to our faces that they where forced to remove anything bad related to fakeccine.
Niya is expecting the impossible. To teach an old dog new tricks. I've been a while here so I won't even bother and not that it makes any difference now since, Wokers are woking away.

Yes he bans people for saying things he doesn't like
And if you're a free speech absolutist, be a free speech absolutist even when it's hard. There's no room in absolutism for "sometimes I disagree". Don't give Musk a by just because the people he's banning are the ones you want banned. Doing that would be hypocrisy.

Of course, I've never claimed to be a free speech absolutist because it's a bloody stupid position to anyone that cares to examine it for more than a second.

    And on the same basis...
All in all you got to give credit to a free internet.
You don't get to claim a free internet because it's not you that's are being coerced.

I'm all in for free speech and apparently Musk also, so, even is Zucky is forced
    Do you see the contradiction?

Strangely enough I have never seen the same behavior (not talking about you in particular Funky) when the ban was on the other side of the fence.
It was all good and normal then.
The EU was fine with the antiwoke bans and now it's not fine with the woke bans (if there are, have not checked , not using social media). Since I hate EU (the new EU) and what it represents with every bone in my body,
may I take a guess and say, Wokers goona woke?
