I'm attaching a sample of an Outlook add-in that I've written. This version is several months old and was my first attempt. The full, finished version is too big and probably overcomplicated, but this one should get you started at least.

All that happens is that it adds an item to the menu bar of any messages or appointments you open. If you click on the menu ite, you get a message telling you that you've clicked it.

Hope it's of some use.
