When mainstream was right in history?

Remember when chattel slavery was mainstream? I think a lot of people don't realize that many mainstream ideas about what it right and wrong is dependent almost solely upon those strong enough to enforce these ideas by silencing counter arguments and enforcing compliance through the law. Now not all ideas are bad. I think we can all agree that murder and stealing should be considered wrong but even in these cases arguments can be made to justify them(eg. Killing someone who has harmed your child or invading your home). But not all mainstream ideas should be accepted without challenge. Chattel slavery would still be legal today if no one ever dared to challenge the narrative of the time.
