Besides, there isn't enough data to be certain of the deadliness, at this time. Still, it might be hopeful. If it is only as deadly as the common flu....well, we ignore that a whole lot, so perhaps we'll be able to ignore this. Get your flu shot and/or your COVID shot, if you want. We'll see. Viruses don't want to kill, they want to spread. There's a competitive advantage for a variant that is FAR more transmissible, yet doesn't kill the host. In fact, we already have such a coronavirus, as that's what the common cold often is.
P.S. There is the Greek Papanikolaou drug. It's highly effective, on conditional stage as all the vaccines so, you're welcome.

Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.
So our native dictator imposed mandatory vaccination on public and private sanitary personnel.People that are on health wings etc.
The idiot told that we do that to create a cattle immunity, only there is not such thing with flu viruses.
The idiot also does not know that 90% of the sanitary personnel is already vaccinated. He found the one unit that is almost totally vaccinated and imposed mandatory vaccination. The brilliance, the design, the higher intelligence.
Also the dictator, born our of a screwdriver in reverse, told that only vaccinated people can go inside of clubs, restaurants etc. Go inside, at summer, with 40 degrees, with everyone on the islands, outside, the, idi, ot. He will make owners check on the vaxers and no vaxers and bounce them in or our. Amazing. How innovative, how clever, what a leader, screwdrivers should be proud.
Those measures will save us from the "deadly" delta. You know, the one that kills no one.
Well we all know what happens to dictators sooner or later.
In other news on vacation again getting 40 degrees 39 degrees 37 degrees 40 degrees 38 degrees 38 degrees. Thankfully it's superdry (not the label) so we feel the heat but we can handle it. Also it exterminates flu but not for the government as the incidents are rising. Meh, typical propaganda by idiot monkeys.
Also a teacher at a summer camping that was vaccinate with Johnson a month ago, got sick went inside the air conditioned cabins and also flued a couple of kids over there.
That's why you go to the sea not the mountain. Vaccinated zombies are stalking in the trees, while the are just a couple of scurvy trees here an there in the islands.

Heat does seem to reduce the incidence of flu, but flu is not COVID, which clearly is not impacted all that much by heat. Besides, the impact on flu may have more to do with people being outside and getting more air circulation...though, in that case, the fact that COVID doesn't appear to be impacted much by heat shouldn't be the case.

Let me try to cover up for what was lost in translation as far as I understand our neighbors on the Balkan peninsula:
1. Greeks drink a lot but they don't get drunk easily (if at all) like other lesser nations
2. He's been mostly kidding in this thread which allows him to post insults with no consequence to his membership here
3. CNN dishes mostly propaganda in contrast to liberal Greek media
4. Finally makes sure enough arrogance and unwillingness to educate lesser nations do not remain unremaked

Well, changing their agenda shouldn't really surprise anyone. They may be international, but isn't CNN an American company? COVID certainly seems to be fading as an issue over here, even as case loads are climbing once again in the unvaccinated regions. Frankly, the big media markets of the US are not the unvaccinated regions. If the death rate starts climbing, or hospitals get stressed, then it will get back into the news, but it feels like we've moved on, as far as attention is concerned. That may be because of where I live. The coastal states in the west have pretty good vaccination rates. Idaho doesn't, but we don't have a whole lot of people, either, so if we are surrounded by vaccinated people, that works. Aside from that, we're on fire. This is a fire ecosystem, but we're WAY above the past record for number of fires at this time of year...and temps are still high, with no rain or cooling in the forecast.
I was thinking that the US might rank as a drunk country. Our consumption of alcohol has spiked quite a bit over the last year, but I remember hearing that it spiked from a pretty low state. The US used to be a pretty drunken country, and has sobered up steadily for decades. I think we're unremarkable, in that regard, by now.

Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.
Well there is a state by state map here: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra...r100klast7days
I don't think vaccination rates have as much to do with new cases as other factors. Vaccination levels just aren't high enough and need to be at something like 80% double-vaxxed before it becomes significant.
If by "western states" you mean the coasts that's one thing, but in general the west and south aren't doing that well on vaccination: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations
We still have some supply issues here, but hesitancy has become a larger problem in recent months.

Probably you will be said that you need a third dose so you will need more vaccines.
Maybe you can borrow from us. We have 10 mil vaccines that will expire in August and our small dictatorisk wants to shove them all into us by then but it isn't happening.
So their new story is that it IS actually happening but I bet you can find a couple of mils for sale cheap right now.
I just wanna think of what you will trade for....Errrr..Pancake syrup? I couldn't find to the market, so how about it? 10 vaccines for 1 bottle of syrup ratio?Fair?
The most drinking I've seen in my life was in UK, I couldn't believe the portions although Funky and company were gentlemen/women when we met in Greece, I don't think they drunk a lot if at all. Hmmf, that was insulting of course!IS there something wrong with our drinks? Why aren't you drinking?!You're insulting us!! ... And that could happen in some regions in Greece, so there you just shut it and drink, or else!

Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.
It's weird though. Greek people who come here and start restaurants usually serve a lot of food for drunks after the bars close.
Bacon, eggs, and fried potatoes and onions.
Something goobered up heavily in mayo they call an "olive burger" because it has some chopped olives in it.
A plate of fried stuff they call "Hippie Hash" (broccoli, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, feta cheese, usually rye toast and fried eggs on the side) because it has no meat.
We also have places selling gyros during normal hours though too, but those tend to be small shops with no seating inside. Seem to be primarily slices from a big rotating slab of lamb spam rolled up in a pancake with some sour runny white yogurty stuff and maybe a few bits of onion and tomato. Seems like there was also some day-glo pink pickled veg served with it, but maybe I'm thinking of the falafel places.

Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.
That's not really Greek. There is no olive burger or Hippie Hash and not side fried eggs, that is American habits.Pancakes, I can only find in supermarket here as a dust to make.
I guess they are adopting to USA tastes, only gyro is a thing but the traditional is not yogurt but a sauce filled in garlic call "tzatziki", I guess that's the sour you talk about. Personally I cannot eat those sauces at all as I hate garlic, detest mayo and not keen on simple yogurt over meat.
I've yet to find a person that did not like Greek original food when in Greece tho, so I guess the sauces may be better here (cannot compare what I can't eat) and the food is marvelous here if you go to the right places.

It's not JUST Canada. My grandparents and uncle tapped several thousand trees and made hundreds, or thousands, of gallons of syrup each year. I loved that time of year. Collecting the sap was done using a tractor hauling a trailer over roads covered in snow, ice...and plenty of mud. The ruts became phenomenal, so riding the trailer was like an amusement park ride. They'd boil nonstop for a time, then shut everything down until they had a few thousand gallons of sap. In the meantime, the sap in the boilers would cool down. The system was continuous flow, so the first channels would be mostly water, and would freeze solid. As the sap progressed through the channels, more and more water would be boiled off, leaving increasingly concentrated sugar. As a kid, this was like a 'choose your own sweetness' snow cone system. You could go from sweet ice to sugary slush to pure syrup, just by choosing which channel to fill a cup from.
Still, the US is a small player compared to Canada. We don't maintain a strategic syrup reserve for trading.
Edit: The US may also be losing it's sugar maples. I haven't been keeping up on this story, so my information is decades out of date and may now be utterly wrong, but at one point, there was a small insect called a thrip that was killing off young maples such that there was no next generation growing. The big old trees were still going strong, but...that's all that was left. Those maples live in colder areas, so they may also lose ground in traditional areas, so Canada may end up being the only producer.

We have a few large operations here, but it is mostly small family sugar shanties working the back 40. Many do sell through cooperatives though, so they don't have their own labels. Some Amish operators here are also making Birch Syrup, though that's what really gets expensive.
I can't say our Maple trees are without problems, but so far they still produce seed in vast quantities and getting rid of stray seedlings is just a part of regular lawn care around here. The invasive Norway Maple and Silver Maple have displaced a lot of Sugar Maple though.

We have a public sugar company in Greece that produce twice the sugar we need.
The dictator is trying to sell it, or sold it, not sure, to abroad companies.
But syrup, no, we barely know about it we barely use it we barely need it. Except moi of course.
How exactly does it called? We call it sfendamos syrup here. It's the same as Maple? I would suppose so.

Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.
Certainly related. Sugar maples are not the only ones with sugar laden sap, though they do appear to be the only ones we tap. If the sugar in the sap is particularly concentrated, then the sap tastes slightly sweet. I've noted that taste in red maple sap as well as sugar maple sap, but I've never known anybody to use it for syrup. Perhaps the European varieties also have high sugar content?

Personally I don't have a clue about Euro maple.
We are more into fruit marmalade here and "spoon sweets", fruits that are made into a sweet..Errr it's complicated. We can squeeze marmalade from orange to watermelon and they taste great but they just don't go to pancakes.
Of course we are also into honey. Greek honey, especially the monastery one, is one of the best in the world. That, with some butter prooobably can be a replacement in pancakes.
Also since I've talked about fruits. In comparison to upper EU countries we don't get fruits by portions. Meaning I bough a watermelon today a full 10kg watermelon. If you start climbing countries up you would se people buy one or 2 slices not the whole thing. We also make home marmalade's that way, meaning p.e. we bought 3 kilos of
apricots and we are making marmalade right now, let my try to get a shot...

What's the immunity to the delta variant of no vaccination at all? Oh yeah, it is a negative 400%, since the delta variant is roughly four times as transmissable, and you have zero immunity.
However, you might also note that the article is also saying that the mortality is way down. In the US, COVID mortality is exclusively found in the unvaccinated group. Those vaccinated might catch the virus, but they rarely get sick and they don't die. The various states are proving a pretty good study. We have a control and treatment group, and they self selected. Normally, this wouldn't make for a good study, since there could be bias, but since a significant portion are self selecting on political lines, it should be possible to separate out comparable groups.

That's what they are telling you? Bravo.
Delta has limited mortality, you said that yourself. The simple steps to undertake is, do nothing. Or, or, vaccinate for every new variable, just to be sure.
In the end you will end up crowing for vaccines because you did that yourself and that is not fair and unvaccinated should vaccinate, boo hoo hoo etc.
Unfortunately for you the flue is turning into a flu , actually less dangerous than a flu, so, we will just step back and see what those experimental vaccines did to you on the months or years to come. But vaxbies gonna vaxb that is the ultimate truth.

I said that it appeared to have lower mortality than the past variants, not that it has limited mortality. The lower mortality may be a result of the variant, or it may be because treatment is better. The mortality rate is still significant. Furthermore, subsequent studies suggest that people infected with the delta variant can have 1000 times the amount of the virus, which means they spread it much faster.
The simple step is ALWAYS to do nothing. If you're headed for a cliff, it's simpler not to turn, the outcome is just worse. Same with the virus. You can get it, and get some immunity that way (though reinfection might be higher with that route), or you can avoid being sick in the first place. The common cold rarely kills people, but I've never met anybody who enjoys it. If you could avoid it, why wouldn't you?
As for the variants, you're right. With the mRNA approach, it would be possible to create new vaccines for different variants, just as we do for the flu, except that it will be FAR easier and more effective. Seems like a good idea, to me.
Unfortunately for you the flue is turning into a flu , actually less dangerous than a flu, so, we will just step back and see what those experimental vaccines did to you on the months or years to come.
It isn't the flu, and if you think it is less dangerous, how about finding some data that doesn't come from some conspiracy rag. As to the vaccines, calling them experimental is pretty disingenuous considering they went through a full stage-three trial. They won't do anything anywhere near as bad as the disease, and won't do anything at all to almost everybody.
I don't understand your last sentence.
In the US, anti-vaxxers tend to be Republican. Republicans and Democrats are not homogenous, so it should be possible to find socioeconomically equivalent groups that are pro and anti vaccines. They will tend to be in different political parties, but that shouldn't produce an unacceptable bias. Therefore, you can compare vaccinated versus unvaccinated without socioeconomic complications. Such a comparison may not be possible in most countries, the US has just managed to politicize all kinds of things, one of which is science.
