I was living in a place where satellite based internet was the only option. It pretty much sucked, too. The download speeds were mediocre, the upload speeds were atrocious. One would assume that Elon Musk would do something about the download speeds, but I'm not sure how much he can do about the upload speeds. It's not enough just to get cat videos at a good rate, we also need to be able to upload cat videos at an acceptable rate....or else, what's the point?

Quantum Mind Teleportation - Transfering a person's conscious mind to a clone
Lets get back to dclamp's idea, but change it to quantum teleportation, where your conscious mind is teleported to a station where it's programmed into a clone.

After a person's conscious mind has been teleported to a clone, the sending station would then place the body there on life support, provide physical therapy for it's muscles, and other medical services normally provided to coma patients for the duration of this transfer. To maintain both bodies, the teleportee needs to teleport their conscious mind every 7 days. The teleportee is authorized up to 2 clones, where the longest a body then will be on life support would be 14 days. Only asteroid miners, or people needing to work extremely far from Earth would be allowed to have or use clones. Clones will be of the same sex of the original, but may not be a copy of teleportee unless they're a frequent traveler in high demand. Use of a clone not of themselves will be contantly monitored for the duration of their visit to avoid abuse of it's integrity.
An employees contract to use a teleporter will require that this employee help maintain a clone by visiting it so it's not on life support longer than 14 days. Breaking this contract will void their employment if it's not due to health reasons or some other serious personal issues.
No 2 or 3 bodies (original, clones) are allowed to function normal at the same time for the same person, so the teleportation station has to place the body there on life support. Incase of an emergency, the teleportee will be notified to report to a teleporter to transfer their conscious mind to where it's needed (to a clone). The original body will be revived if an emergency is at it's location, and the cloned used is ordered to report to a teleportation station to be placed on life support unless their work at their location is too important for it to be interrupted during the duration of their visit.
The conscious mind transfered from the original are only copies, but clones will always be blank slates to be filled or erased. Sending stations of the original teleportee's body's conscious mind can't erase them, or edited, so what happens on mining colony 6, stays on mining colony 6, but a person will still get credit for there job there.
Important: Book publishers, film studios, Jacob Roman , you're not allowed to film or publish my teleportation idea unless you give me credit and pay me and my family. 25% of book profits, and a couple of million dollars up front from film studios for my teleportation idea, which includes 5% of worldwide profits.
No one can bring up or experiment with this idea (including you Jacob ), unless I recieve credit. Any profits, personal earnings from this idea by scientists, big tech firms, Jacob, anyone else, will be split with me by 50%.
50% of magazine deals will be paid to me, including credit to this idea. The above idea can't be published anywhere unless I recieve credit!
No experimentation or publication of this idea is allowed unless my idea is referenced as Peter's Tele-Porter, Alright!
50% of all profits of selling a physical station of my teleportation idea will be paid to me and my family for a thousand years!
25% of profits earned from maintenace of a teleporter station will be rewarded to me and my family for a thousand years.
By Peter's Tele-Porter means I own this idea of this form of teleportation, to include the programming of clones. By using my teleportation idea means you (scientists, tech firms, governments, Jacob Roman ) are souly responsible for life support, failed teleportations, and abuse of and caused by clones. By using my teleportation idea, you wont hold me liable for anything that goes wrong with it, which also includes abuse to or caused by clones!
All of above is subject to change by me!

Re: Multi-Billion Dollar Idea
At the point we're copying our consciousness back and forward I see no reason why we'd continue to use conventional bodies at all. Any repository capable of carrying out the functions required for the current tenure would suffice and likely be superior. I see no reason that it would even need to be organic.

...and anything else that could interfer with the teleportation. Conscious teleportation would be the safest bet. Hell, this form of teleportation could lead to immortality to preserve skills and new knowledge an individual gained. So while you grow old on Earth, a copy of your conscious mind lives on. Hell, if there is a quantum link with your clone, after death you'll be waking up in a younger body.

If cloning of full bodies is possible, I don't think anyone would do away with the human form. A person would just have to wait 18 or so years before they could use their copy.

See this:
I would never do that because I believe that the information in the brain gets copied to the machine, but not the consciousness. When the body dies, you die, you don't continue to live in the machine / computer.
I also believe we have a soul, and the soul (who you are) does not stay with your brains' information, it stays with the heart. So after you transfer your information into a machine, and you kill your body, that's when you die, and the information of your brain exists in the computer but it is soul-less / and without consciousness.
[edit]
Also, something to note. In the Matrix movie the body lives, and they get connected to a computer, that is different, because the body still lives.

Re: Multi-Billion Dollar Idea
I disagree, as when you get a heart transplant you dont lose your soul or consciousness. So that proves its all in the brain. Doing a brain transplant would be the ultimate as you can be transferred over to a younger healthier body

Me too. If I can transfer my consciousness, why do I want to carry on using this wrinkled, squishy mess? I want frinkin' lasers!
BTW, I had that laser eye surgery but they don't work. No matter how hard I glare at my enemies they just don't explode.
I also believe we have a soul, and the soul (who you are) does not stay with your brains' information, it stays with the heart
How does that square with your idea of transferring your consciousness to a clone? Unless your transferring the soul as part of that you're still dying. And if you can transfer the soul to a clone then you can transfer it to a machine.

Teleporting a person's conscious mind to a clone is my idea, Funky.
