Let us clean our own sh*t ...

I mean give back the right to lock our own threads.

I just wanted to lock one of mine in Chit Chat and two consecutive attempts failed, so I reported it to the mods for them to close it.

MartinLiss then emailed me asking if I really couldn't do that myself and that I should test it on a sample thread.

Well, I just posted another thread in Chit Chat, and just for the sake of testing, tried to close it. I don't have permissions or I am not logged on. Since I could post the thread, I am logged in, also the page describes honeybee as the logged in member. So the only reason I cannot close my own thread is that I don't have the right.

Can you mods please restore the right to Open/Close Thread to the members who started the threads?

I dont think it is such a good idea. (PS Filburt HB is prob referring to the dream thread). Basically it means that if you dont like the way a thread is going you can close it???? That is such a cop out. If you can't accept different views then it is probably safer not to post at all.

If you think closing a thread is cop-out, you can always start another thread. And what if someone decided to delete the thread? Then you wouldn't even have any trace if someone chickened out or not!

The basic difference between closing a thread and deleting it is that if you close it, the posts will still be there for everyone to view.

What is really annoying is if someone deletes your thread, without even telling you, or giving you a reason, and i am not naming names (mainly because none of you buggers has admited to it), so for the record i would like to know why you deleted my thread about the WTC, because it is an interesting thread, fair enough it got a bit bad to the end, but you should of deleted the single posts not the whole ****ing thread!!!!!!

In some thread, an individual who is Anti-Abdul, had a link which
invited people to click to report Abdul. He was talking about
getting his {abduls} thread deleted, and he said he had reported
it to the Mods to be removed. I was worried that his link to report
Abdul was a link to report the WTC thread. I never checked it out,
though.

Within an hour, the WTC thread was gone.

I have been unable to find the person with the link. It seems he's changed his signature since then.

I'm going to try some more.

Heres One: it was in My Abdul Poll, which I deleted
after seeing the "Report Abdul Here" link, being worried about
what it was linked to. {Still, this wasn't the post I refered to. I still can't find that!}

I think everybody should report what he has just said until he is banned.

NotLKH: The report Abdul link was to report that individual post. I believe that when that link was put up, it was only to get Abduls posts removed and NOT the entire thread.

Thats very true.
But I've never seen a "Report this thread" link, and the thread WAS removed. So it leads me to believe that instead of just removeing the post, the easy way was taken and the entire thread was removed.

Agreed. I think the moderator at the time was somewhat over-zealous and should not have removed the entire thread.

Has anybody heard whether or not they are going to put in back in place?

Again, in such cases, I think the mods would better email the thread starter before deleting the thread.

Mods deleting a thread is a different issue, I guess, than being able to lock your own thread.
