So Donald Trump made a speech today that we will be having a 6th military branch called the Space Force. Orders have been placed to the Pentagon to create it. In the new Space Force, it will be used not just to protect Americans while in space, but to do interplanetary travel, colonizing the moon, colonizing asteroids, etc. All of our current out of date space technology will be modernized. Ladies and gentlemen, Star Trek is real.
Probably not. Wasn't there some guy who swore he was going to put a rocket up to prove once and for all whether the earth was round? I forget who that was.

Re: Space Force
At first I assumed JR was kidding but it turns out it's true. My first reaction was "there goes crazy Donald again" but, actually it's probably no bad thing. Putting the silly name aside I've always felt anything that encourages space exploration is a good thing.
I'm uneasy that it's a branch of the military, though. I'd rather have just seen increased funding and focus for NASA.

Protect Americans while out in space, from who exactly? Aliens
to do interplanetary travel
Didn't NASA already do that, and if they wont give NASA the necessary billions to do it why would they suddenly give it to some new agency that has no experience doing it? (bare in mind that Trump will have to go to the Senate and Congress too fund this)
colonizing the moon, colonizing asteroids
Yeah right that would cost even more that the interplanetary travel stuff.
This Space force has been created so they can make some nice new uniforms and Trump can call himself Commander In Space

Yeah, when I first read the thread title, I thought JR was getting into Disney movies. I didn't recognize that one, but then again, I'm not into Disney movies. The title does sound like some kid-friendly PG movie.
I got my acceptance letter today:
Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada.
I suspect this has far less to do with manned exploration, astronomical platforms and probes, near-Earth orbit manufacturing research, or commercial satellite operations than it does military satellite operations.
It is probably related to the XS-1 "Phantom Express" semi-autonomous reusable satellite launch platform more than anything else right now. This seems to be the X-37B test vehicle's successor and is supposed to be coming online in 2020. Operating these delivery vehicles, the military satellite network, and ground-based support operations are probably the primary mission of this comically named "Space Force."
I dont blame Trump for creating a Space Force. Russia and China already has one. And had it since the 1990s. They are already winning the space race. On top of that, a lot of new technologies have been supressed by our own government, and Trump is having these secrets declassified and utilized. Imagine such technologies such as Warp Drive, Wormhole, Phasers, etc., all becoming a reality.
Since January 2017, NASA is already planning on a mission to asteroid that contains so much iron, it is worth, I kid you not, 10000 quadrillion dollars. Asteroid mining is but within a decade away. And doing this could solve the worlds debt crisis and technologies don't have to be "cock blocked" due to funding, which is why we are but slowely progressing.
Saw a documentary recently.
I never imagined that the shadows of the sun over moon surfaces can go to different angles at the same time.
The moon landing was staged and anyhow NASA astronauts accidental admitted it.
So it would probably be a round the earth space force, colonizing satellites
I wouldn't mind to be reborn in a couple of millenniums and be a professional pilot into a spaceship but right now and probably for more than you can think of, it cannot be done.
We still don't have a craft that can fly properly into space without using a rocket or another form of fuel that will last or recycle. Or at least a couple of Klingon crystals.
At least nowadays, it is possible to use the force and move objects, paper...Every time i go to the bathroom.

There's nothing new about this. I don't remember Obama coming up with some nutty idea about space, but everybody before him did back through at least Reagan. None of them were more than talk. It was just vision, and vision is cheap. The reality is not cheap, so that doesn't happen.
what if Donald finds (illegal)Aliens out there, is he going to build another Wall ?
I 'm form Germany, and we just got rid of wall's

since 2010 the number of Tigers are rising again in 2016 - 3900 were counted. with Baby Callas it's 3901, my wife and I had 2-3 months the privilege of raising a Baby Tiger.

Of course if you all were paying attention the last couple of decades, the children were being separated since the Clinton era, and every president after. Basically it was the law being followed as opposed to ignored. If any parent breaks the law, illegal immigrant or not, they go to jail and are separated from their children. So this is nothing new. It has never been a "Trump" thing. And just recently, Trump made an executive order to make sure children who migrated with their parents stay with their parents when they are caught and detained; something Clinton, any of the Bushes, and Obama could never do. Also, it was far worse during the Obama era when it came to punishments for illegals entering the country, yet the Left said nothing.

Not a strictly accurate representation of reality that. Those convicted and jailed were separated from their children, certainly, but it was Trump's "zero tolerance" policy in which anyone caught crossing the border was automatically criminalised rather than being processed as a potential refugee that created the situation. There were alternative ways of interpreting the legal situation and Trump chose the absolute worst and most confrontational.
Bluntly, you can argue the technicalities as much as like. But Trump is currently using the threat of continuing to essentially orphan children in massive numbers as a bargaining chip to push through his immigration policies. Whether you agree with those policies or not, it's hard to argue that using that threat doesn't speak volumes about the man.

I agree and also don't think previous presidents advocated eliminating due process.

Sounds like Trump in this video to me
And it doesnt stop there. I can show you Hilary saying it, Obama saying it, Bush saying it, etc. Some people may have short term memory, but I never forgot this when I saw him say this back in the 90s.
As for Trump exploiting children, its not him thats doing it, its the Left. Time magazines cover showing a Hondurian girl and Trump as a symbol of Trump separating children was a lie, and has been debunked many times by now. The girl was with her mother the whole time and was only crying because she was exhasted and thirsty after the Coyote, who was paid $6000, helped them cross the border. The daughter was kidnapped by her own mother, who has left behind a couple more kids in Honduras as well as the father. And he never got a chance to say goodbye. This Time magazine cover was just a propaganda attempt to exploit children to make Trump look as though he hates children.
And those photos of illegal children in cages wrapped in what looks to be aluminum blankets sleeping on the floor. These photos went viral only recently, but what they dont tell you is that the photos are from 2014. Trump wasnt even president yet! Clearly this was the Obama era. Another failed attempt at propaganda. The illegal children are actually in nice facilities getting an education, 3 square meals, get to play sports, have their own beds, and play Playstation.
Another was the photo of what looks to be a 2 or 3 year old boy behind a dog cage. It was later debunked as a liberal attempting to make it seem like all children are being put in dog cages. But it was fake. Fake as CNN.
And what about the school shootings? The liberal media is exploting these incidents, as well as children, as a means to take away the rights of the American people. Even exploiting people, such as David Hogg, to be a symbol of their agenda.
So far the running theme has been children. When clearly the left dont care all that much about children when it comes to abortions, even late term abortions. Exploiting children for personal gain is also sick. And dumbing down children with riddlin, as well as indoctrinating them, is just disgusting.

Re: Space Force
Perhaps you can point me to the part of that video where he advocates abandoning all forms of due process and automatically criminalises anyone crossing the border before they have been processed in any form. There is a marked difference between adopting a strong stance on immigration and pursuing forms of redress e.g. deportation, and automatically locking people up with no regard to the human cost of doing so.

It is also looking like there was little or no effort to track where the kids were being sent. It really is insulting to prior presidents to compare them to Trump...but that seems to be the only argument Trump supporters have. The "what about" argument. Yeah he is doing cruel things but what about "fill in the blank". Sure he is undoing decades of serious legislation but what about "fill in the blank".. It is a constant diversion away from his behavior by shifting the conversation to past actions using that as a justification for his own.
In the 466 days since he took the oath of office, President Trump has made 3,001 false or misleading claims, according to The Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement uttered by the president. That’s an average of nearly 6.5 claims a day.
To paraphrase that; That’s an average of nearly 6.5LIES a day.
