SurfDemons belief of no difference between NET chat and In Person Chat ?

The subject says it all. Does anyone here actually believe, as SurfDemon does, that there is NO difference between chatting with someone in person and "chatting" with someone on a message board ??

TOTALLY dis-counting that you have no clue who/what/where anyone is online, in person communication allows the view of body language, smell, touch, eye contact, making them get you a beer when they go to the kitchen, etc.

Why become something you are not just because you are not visible to the other person....

Do you change your personality when you talk on the telephone?

Do you communicate differently with blind people?

if you look at some of the threads you will see that groups of us occasionally do see each other in person, and drink beer - lots of beer.

But if you feel the need to slip your "mask" on and create your own little fantasy persona when you get to the keyboard thats your affair....

<<Do you change your personality when you talk on the telephone?>>

Depends entirely on who I'm talking too. All people have different personalities. That's normal. If you don't then there is something wrong with you. You can't possible talk to your boss or priest or mother the same way you talk to your best friend. That would be insane. At work I'm polite to people that, at home, I would curse out. You don't understand that ??? Geez.

<<Do you communicate differently with blind people?>>

Uhmmm....perfect example twit. My friends cousin is blind and YES, I and everyone else has to communicate differently with him and ALL blind people. You can't just make a comment and 'wink' or smile it away....you have to be careful of, not what you say, but how. And when that goes arwy....he has the trust of my friend to help him out when *******s like me say the wrong thing.

I must be WAY to old for this 'make friends' online ****. I was in my 30's before this all came along and I simply do NOT understand the sad way people use the Net for friendship.

Well...with 50,000 troops being called up, I guess this is just an academic argument.

LOL, can't picture it, I'm afraid.

I deal with arrogance like yours on a daily basis; I'm glad you're online and not face to face.

Somehow, I think the feeling is mutual.

Well.....sorry to dis-appoint you Gaffer. If I truely was the way this online cabal of mostly children seem convined of, then I wouldn't have time to waste posting messages because I'd always be looking for a job.

I'm polite to my mother, deferential to my boss(weekly ass-kissing meeting coming this afternoon) and VERY polite to the idiots who's systems I work on all day. Going out with friends is the time to relax and be your-self. These kids don't understand that because they spend ALL their time with their friends. There's no seperation in their lives. "Be your-self at ALL times" is a real easy motto to have when there's no mortgage hanging over your head.

And just to really scare the heck out of you....With your **** post the other day, your probably the only one on this forum I'd actually get along with in person.

Be afraid, be VERY afraid. LOL

It's kinda nice to be called a kid, though my children would probably agree with you.

Uhm... what in all of Hades does having a mortgage have to do with being yourself?

Cos then you have to kiss ass at work...

Everyone puts on different faces for different situations - I mean I treat my mistress and my wife very differently...

    Chance'd be a fine thing.

    OK...I'm amazed at 2 things.

    1) That this thread is still alive.

    2) That someone would post this "Trush me!! RAAB is woores in HUMAN!! He haave little time than a fish life to edit what he is rippin, and jammin."

What the heck does that mean ??

Phew, at least there is some one in the Demon household to make the important decisions.

Mine usually involve which bottle(s) of wine to purchase for the night's meal..............everything else can be left to she who must be obeyed.

et means that raab likes to keep it real, and jam it out, and if it comes out bad, it's sill real and you just gotta respect it.

Yeah, same here.... although I get to buy the car too.

Funny, there are some shops that I'm just not allowed into on my own (or with any male mates)... (future shop etc.)
