Palm V
One of my ex-teachers let me borrow his Palm V for the year.
1. How do I find out the OS version?
2. Other than download.com, where can I get free proggies for it?

In addition to download.com, there is Plam.com and handspring.com. There are also dozens of other sites. Do searchs at Google and such.
On my version, if you go to the App menu and select "Info" you can see not only the OS version, but the version of every app installed.

Cool; I'm running 3.1. I hate the way Palm.com requires you to BUY the OS upgrade.

That is no different then MS requiring you buy Windows 2000. Doesn't bother me.

But 3.1 to 3.5 sounds more like a patch than a whole new OS.

I haven't looked at the added functionality in 3.5. I have 3.1H2. But W2K is just NT 5. It is argueable if there is enough added functionality to call it a new OS.
Fortunately, there are several PDAs which will support Linux. I think we will see other OSes, too. This can help to keep the price of WinCE and PalmOS down.
