History Repeats Itself
Well, what happened today, September 11th, 2001, was really sad. And it will be remembered forever, written in history books and everything. It is a shame, really. This was the first major event that happened since the New Millennium, I believe. A new century. To me, looking back at the 19th century, and some of you may not agree with me, but some may, the 19th was a horrible century! Not completely horrible, as there were many advancements. But as you realize, the last event that touched all Americans, was Pearl Harbor. And now, today, this happens. What are you thinking? Humans, of everywhere, and I'm not saying this to any individual, nor do I mean any offense to anyone, never learn. History repeats itself. We are taught about the World War I, Holocaust, World War II, and even Pearl Harbor. And also, which is not taught, but still, we will always remember, the Oklahoma City bombing, which was done by a cruel American. Why? Because we do not want history repeating itself.
It's just amazing how you read about it all, all the things that happened in history and your like, "wow, did that really happen? Humans really did that? How did they survive that?" And now, we are living it, another nightmare, in a new century.
It's really sad that this had to happen. 40,000+ innocent people are injured, most dead. Ones with families that are wondering if there dad, mom, or whoever that was near there or in it, is still alive. I live 2 and a half hours away from NY. There were even kids at my skool, who had mom's or dad's that worked there. I hope the best for them, that their parents are going to be alright. But sometimes, things don't work out, so it will be a day of mourn tomorrow, and sadness.
I sure hope the US finds who did this, I believe it was the Palistinians, because they were in their streets celebrating, giving candy, and holding flags that said, "We got America." or something close to that. And once we do, hopefully, they'll pay. This is huge, not something America can let go and forget. So I sure hope we do something about it. If it was Palestine, our problem with bombing it, is that Isrælies are on their land and it makes it hard for us, since we are helpful to Isræl, that's probably why they did it, because they were pissed we were helping Isræl.
Anyways, I hope everyone from New York is safe. It's a sad terrible day. It's just something you'd only think about, and now..it's really happened!
I also hope, that this world would just come to peace. We've had enough war, millions, maybe billions of lives lost over the passed century. So humans really have to stop the war if they expect to get anywhere, as like get up to space technology. That's one reason technology is going slow, we spend too much time worrying about what other countries are doing and stuff.
Just my $200. I don't mean to offend anyone, just had to get my say in this all out.

nicely said
At my school one girl had a dad that worked in the top story of the south tower. We comforted her again and some more. She just started to be happy again, then an office assistant delivered a note to her, and she ran out of the room crying.

Stuck in the 80s
Did you say looking back to the 19th Century? Exactly what are you referring to in the 1800s?

Currently, the United States is viewed with sympathy, but in the coming months our actions will be scrutenized and our status as a world power will be re-evaluated. War changes everything, and there is no doubt that these recent bombings constitute acts of war. But the effects go beyond loss of life, to loss of individual freedom; while even news groups have been very careful about leaving race out of it and stopping themselves from pointing fingers at the obvious culprits, soon a decision will have to be made. The nation will be hardened against attacks from the inside. God forbid it's taken too far and a police state is declared, then the national unity becomes threatened, and we'll break apart into nations ourselves, just like what happened to the Arab states.
These terrorists shoved a message down our throats which we have been taking with a grain of salt so far: international relations intersects local politics. The world is shrinking, you've heard this before - big business closes gaps between countries, and our American Big Business represents us by selling weapons to the Israelis. Suddenly, we fall under attack by desparate people armed with nothing more than cardboard-cutting knives. Violating human rights never qualifies as humane, they were in the wrong by far, but we can learn from this, not blindly retaliating to postpone losing more of our personal freedom (to combat future acts of terrorism.)
But it will not be easy to target a certain group of militant individuals. Not because we cannot identify them, but because we control the world's sympathy. Striking back makes us no better, and many people agree with this. Instead, like the ill-fated UN summit on Social Rebuilding which we walked out of, the United States should work on rebuilding bridges (tm) to the East that were burned so long ago. President Bush nor Clinton handled these things very well, perhaps another cabinet for this stuff should be constructed, but what i do know is that hiding GWB in Louisiana in his Doomsday Plane was not the message we wanted to send to other militant radicals.

YOu should ask that "Is there a good way to prevent this kind of attack (think about US - not the attackers)?

There's only so much one can do to prepare oneself. In Entebbe, Israel was lucky to liberate most of the passengers with only one officer (although the commanding officer) killed. This was not a hostage situation, and you don't have a chance to react until after the fact.

My thoughts go to all the victims... And in this case the most of the globe. The reprecussions of these acts effect much more then a single office, city, state, or nation in this matter.
Act of terrorism are not an anwser to problems, only an escape and excuse to inflict damage on innocent citizens.
I am a 15yr old teen from Salem Oregon. I am very lucky.., I dont have a relative or friend hurt in this prehistoric act of violence. I dont have any anwsers to any of the nations problems (none that make any sense at least..lol) I only can give my posotive input, and hope everyone can keep there heads up inspite of the all of this terror / terrorism...

I would personally just like to express my support and condolences to the famelies who have been affected by the Attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Actions like this sickens me, and the world will be a better place once people realise, that war and teorism is not the way to solve problems.
My thoughts goes to the American people

Its sad to see such a large scale of loss of hunam lives, and that too of innocent peoples. I do hope that all those who have survived this tragedy and those who lost their loved ones will have the strength to recover from this gruesome act.
