    VB Manual E-mail checking...

    Hi, Guys!

    Could you please tell me how can I check my e-mail in Hotmail.Com in Visual Basic?
    Like the Messanger does...

    I want to build a simple program that checks my e-mail and tells me how much new e-mails I have...

    How can I do it?

    You cant really, because the hotmail e-mail is all web-based so it would be a serious pain in the hole to do it.

    But it does use a POP3 interface for non-web based transactions. You can use that... I believe either pop.hotmail.com or pop3.hotmail.com

    Or you could use the MSN Messenger protocol to get the email, but that would mean you can't use MSN Messenger while using the program ("You're already logged on at another location")... and everyone on your list would think you're online

    There are LOTS of code samples on PSC (www.planet-source-code.com) that check your e-mail at hotmail. I'm surprised no one suggested this before

    Thanks Jotaf, and about the jew joke, I'm sorry if anyone feels offended, I have absolutely nothing against jews... but you're right, I'll remove it (btw, the Al Capone quote came from http://www.uselessknowledge.com/ )


    Totally forgot about PSC, it is a great source, and I'm sure there are some hotmail checkers there.... just hope they still work when hotmail decided to change they're whole system

    I'll just leave it the way it is now, changing 'jew' into something else wouldn't really kill the joke, but it won't match the southpark movie anymore...
