Beta2 What Fun??!!
Now when the word "free" was spotted on the MS website I had to take a closer look. Amazingly for Microsoft, VS.NET beta2, is free on cd.
Where is the catch? Well from what I can see the system spec. I would have to by a whole new pc to cope with it, let alone a new operating system. I wonder if Linux would ever support it? Never mind.

It is free!!
Hi again, it is definatly free, no shipping, I ordered it through the UK site as I am based in the UK. It only took a few days and it arrived. It is delivered in a cardboard container/wallet, not a plastic box!!
I now have it, but can't use it, time for a new PC!!

If you guys just spent your money on the Sep issue of Visual Studio magazine, or MSDN magazine, you could get a magazine and the Beta 2 DVD all for 'around' the same price as shipping is from Microsoft.

About a week prior to the release of Windows 2000 in Feb 2000, they sent me a non-trial, fully useable copy of 2-smp W2k Pro. A few weeks later, they sent me 120-day trials of win2k pro, srv, and adv srv, plus w2k datacenter srv beta 2. I have no idea why.

Where to download beta 2?
I got a Beta 2 DVD with Visual Studio Magazine but don't have access to a dvd drive. Is there anywhere I can download it?

There are two class of users to Microsoft. If you are MSDN Universal Subscriber, you can Download Beta 2 from Microsoft web site. For the rest, you have to pay "Shipping fee" to get CD.

Woh, just ordered the CD, since I don't have a DVD. It's free of charge man. Maybe if we tell all our friends to order a copy we might even make Bill Gates a poor man.

You can't use Windows 98 with VS .NET Beta 2...that sucks. I don't have NT or windows 2000.
Guess i will have to wait to try it.
