    AVG Scanning my program now

I've been working on a VB.NET program for a while and now all of a sudden my AVG (free) anti-virus tells me it's performing a scan every time I test the program so I have to click on "Abort" and wait a few seconds every time I test the program. I'd like to avoid this. I tried opening AVG-free but it seems to be just an upsell. I know this is not a VB.NET question but maybe some of you who have run into to this can tell me what to do. Is there, in fact, a setting available to correct this in AVG-free? Should I buy AVG-not-free? Should I get rid of AVG? Would restarting the computer help?

Re: AVG Scanning my program now

    Hi projecttoday,

I'm running AVG Free but not getting your problem.
I'm running AVG Software version: 17.4.3014. Virus Definitions version: 170620-2

    AV Free: On.
    Says 'Computer protected'.
    Says 'Web & Email protected'.

    PC TuneUp: Off
    Secure VPN: Off
Password Protection: Off (Not ready yet anyway)

Maybe check your version. Maybe uninstall all AVG and re-install from a new download.

Re: AVG Scanning my program now

I get this problem regulary when debugging my VB.Net applications, especially as a couple of my applications contain network code that does atypical things.

You have 2 options. Disable AVG until you're done programming or you can add your program's folder to AVG's exceptions list. The latest version of AVG allows you to add exceptions to entire folders. It's a great feature to solve this kind of problem.

Meanwhile C# programmers will get paid just a little bit more than you for writing exactly the same code and VB6 programmers will continue to whitter on about "footprints". - FunkyDexter

Thanks, Poppa Mintin and Niya. I think I'll reinstall AVG and if the problem still exists I'll look for that exceptions list.

Re: AVG Scanning my program now

I was using AVG for about 8 years and lately it just started giving very poor performance and boy oh boy when it detected a thread,
the PC was moaning and grinding and everything run real slow.
I switch to Avast and everything runs smooth.
Please note this is not an advertisement for Avast as there may be better antiviruses but as a user of AVG for a long long time I think, AVG, making me switch to another vendor is not a good sign.
