What is a kernel?
Always wanted to know, and a little to to ask. I am sure some boffin will be able to tell me exactly what one is.
Also when using api calls some are to "kernel32.dll" some are to user32.dll. Can someone tie this into the answer too, please .

A kernel is the centre of a nut (the main bit you eat) so following on from that...
...the kernel is the actual OS itself. It provides most of the system services (threading, processes) and all the rest of it. Get WinTop and see kernel32.dll up there near "Idle"
user32.dll provides user interface services, like creating windows.
I refuse to tie my hands behind my back and hear somebody say "Bend Over, Boy, Because You Have It Coming To You".

Get up at 7, bus at 8:05, in school by 8:20, class by 9:00. 50 minutes for lunch, and then we're off at 2:45. Not bad I guess.
