Birthdays come and go - Are you happy ?
Well, tomorrow is my birthday and I hate it.
When I was young, I wished every day was my birthday.
Tomorrow, I will be 20 and the end of my teenage era. It's really a sad sad day for me. I am jealous of all you teens out here....
*Sigh...{lots of air}

My 16th is on Tuesday. Life goes by too quickly to squander on the Internet.

Well, I'm 33 and I'm not bothered by my age, it's best not to dwell on it too much.
One of my wife's friends had a big party for her 30th a few years back and got very depressed about being 30.
When I was 30 it was treated like any other birthday.
I'm told I look younger than I am so I suppose that helps....

I just turned 22 last week, and b-days are just ordinary days. But I guess it depends on where you live, since when I was 20 that was only one more year of being illegal at bars, which made it more fun. As I have since stopped going for lack of funds, and more stuff to do with my time,

I never made much fuss about birthdays. I mean, I did something good for my 18th, but that's a bit of a milestone so that's ok. My parents don't pay much attention to theirs, and normally I don't. I'm like "yeah, it's another birthday, I'm another year older; so what?"
I refuse to tie my hands behind my back and hear somebody say "Bend Over, Boy, Because You Have It Coming To You".

Each year that goes by is another year closer to death.

my 16th and 17th birthdays were the most important ones of my life.
16th, so I could ride a moped (Yamaha FS1E) on the public roads
17th, so I could ride my motorbike on the road (Suzuki GP100).
I was counting down the days to my 16th from about 200 days before it I reckon!

I was 20 last Monday. It was spectacularly dull.

What a horrible ordeal this whole birthday thing is. I think we should abolish the idea.

Well this year was a bit of a milestone for me: 45. Seemed much worse than 40.
I remember only 2 birthdays really: my 8th was on board a Union Castle mailship as my family immigrated here from the UK in 1964. That was great, 'cos I got a cake from the Captain!
Then there was my 21st. My so-called mates made me a concoction to drink which knocked me out till the following morning so I missed most of the party and woke up out in the garden in the rain next day. And someone took my date home. Serves him right.

Sounds like it must be an Ozzie term, and I shudder to think what it might be. DON'T TELL ME, I rather not know!
The **** part of my being 45, is that my wife & I started a family late, and our kids are 5 & 8. At my age, going by the norm, I should have kids at college, not pre-school.

You aren't being normal. You will be removed from society. It is unacceptable.

This surely isn't the Jim Brown who was being so aggressively anti immigrant on another thread?

Well, i am sure that JB can stick up for himself but he was hardly anti immigrant on that thread. Irony and wit sometimes wooshes over ppl's heads.

Actually having just re-read JB's contributions I have to agree. Sorry JB I was tarring you with the brush I should have reserved for Beacon. (I trust Beacon was not being ironic too)

I'm 42 and I love birthdays! It's the only day a year that a big fuss is made over you!!! I'm very happy with what I've done with my life so far and see no reason to think that I won't continue in that same vein until the send me off fighting and screaming into the great beyond!!!

I loved birthdays right up until age 11. That's when they took away my ninja turtles birthday party theme.
But now I get cooler stuff, so it all works out.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.

You mean lego of course?
My parents tell me that they used to get an apple for christmas and if it was a really good year, an apple and an orange. This is a useful statement if you have kids or nephew/nieces etc cos u can make them believe it up until they are 5 or so and get them to share their lollies with you out of sympathy

Of course! I once closed in my entire bathroom with legos.
