Detect whether someone is signed in: MSN messenger
I realize that this may be illegal but if some govt. agency wants to hunt me down over this...let them . My question regards MSN messenger. Is it possible to detect whether someone is signed in? (even if they've blocked you, or is they're set on "Appear Offline"). I realize its designed against this sort of thing but i like to stay optimistic
You just proved that sig advertisements work.

Doubtful. If I were programming MSN Messenger, I would code it so that, upon recieving a message from a blocked user, it merely discards this message without sending back a "You are blocked" response. You could always circumvent it by signing up with another hotmail acct.

Well i know. But say if you could somehow find the other persons IP address. I realize that that iself would mean they are online. Is it possible?
