    Why would you want that?

Because i think the date of the post doesn't tell you anything. I'm mostly ignoring it. I want to get a post number into each post

That wouldn't help much either. Say if someone posts 200 posts in one day. It'll look like their 1st out of the 200 occoured a long time ago. Get my point?

    Got your point

I got your point exactly, and it's YOU that is the 200 posts/day poster!

I feel the posts in the Chit Chat and Feedback should NOT count towards your title level. Think about it. A Guru member who has 1999 posts in Chit Chat and 1 post in General Question forum??? When I get a reply from a Guru member and a Junior member, I will take the Guru's reply more seriously. But if this Guru is the "Chit Chat Joking Bandit", how can a person know if he is getting good advise.

My suggestion is keep tallying the posts, but posts in the ChitChat and Feedback will not go towards their title. So a person can have 5000 posts and still be a Junior member.

So you guys can still have your post race.

    1. we don't post race anymore
    2. Chitchat posting not counted, has been suggested already, no results yet, but i hope John is working on it.
    3. I'm seriously answering peoples qwestions out there, but that doesn't mean i have no humour.
    4. Most people out here are mainly posting for asking ans answering qwestions, i think you'll find out who really is more experineced by looking at the posts that person daily posts.

i am not sure, because if posts in the chit chat section did not count towards the total, then people might post "chit chat" topics in the programming section, which would amount in a lot more work for John

oh well, just something for you guys to think about

also kedaman, megatron sam etc. where do you get all the time, to make that many posts each day?

Well, we're addicted, at least i am. i spend all my time here when i'm not at work. Maybe the not automatic promotion to Guru was a good idéa. But that means i would have to do something about it. Maybe we should have a vote for me getting guru. Who want's me as a Guru? Or how about making a vote forum for promoting members to Gurus? Just a thought

Maybe the people who have really been helped could send their feedback instead of just saying "give this guy a guru title". They should express thier personal opinions.

I'm sure dennis, that you saw something on the philosophic threads, where the debating goes hot all day, so my attitude may sometimes show up in the posts. But where just posting there for fun, actually I think we're all friends there

Yes, kedaman, I've seen you help out a lot in the General VB threads and think that you deserve the Guru title.

Thank you, Kedaman, Zmerlinz and Da_silvy.

Kedaman> I don't think John will see it that way. when he reads the VB fourms, he'll see that we contribute a lot.

John, you said that you'd promote us when you sort out the chit chat fourm. Does that mean that you will be deleting it? If so, could you keep the 2 evolution threads? I think that they are full of interesting points that should be kept.

If that's the case, I would like to have all the philosophical threads left, John could you make a Philosophy forum and put them all there?

You know, that wouldn't be a bad idea. Instead of having the little kids posting junk in the chit chat fourm, we could have a seperate fourm for the evolution threads. This way, you'll only go there if you have something interesting and useful to say.
