Upgrade to Windows ME or stick with Windows 98SE ?
Sitting beside me I have a WindowsME cd-rom.
Installed on my laptop I have Windows98SE.
I'm considering installing ME onto the laptop.
Anyone have any thoughts on the matter ?
Should I or shouldnt I ?

I personally saw little advantage with ME...if you have another machine, try it there.
I'm bringing geeky back...

Ditch DOS-crippled 9x and go 2000.

I quite like Win9x. But I didnt like 2000.
So ME is currently installing on another Win98 system.
I'll let you know how I get on

You didn't like 2000?! You didn't miss the constant crashing? The lack of security??
I'd upgrade to Me then, get as far as you can without going to 2000.

I couldnt get 2000 to run without crashing !
I tried 2 installs on two totally different occasions.
It would install, and then after the first reboot it would not go any further. Some really odd dark-blue screen error.
I think it was hardware related though.
I dont mind crashing.... my Win98 laptop doesnt crash much...

yep, must be a hardware conflict then. I've had win2k installed for a month now and it hasn't crashed once. No BSoD, no Illegal Operations, nothing! I'm truly impressed!

I'm tired of rock-hard operating systems. I want a touchy-feely OS that I can cuddle like WinME

Bah 2k, I fart in your general direction.
WinME I mean. I'm sure I'll install 2k after half an hour of installing 2k

Definately 98....
ME is just a money Scam. The only reason they came out with ME is for the year 2000. The proclaim ME as better than 98. Now when 98 came out everybody and their brother was saying what an improvement 98 was over 95. You don't really hear to much on ME being a great improvement over 98. In fact you'll find just the opposite. The number one complaint about ME.....no "real DOS" anymore.
