NTFS or FAT32 for pure speed.
I'm getting a second HD. It's mainly going to be for my swapfile, and MP3, DivX storage...things like that.
Should I go with NTFS or FAT32? All I really care about is flat out speed here.

NTFS
But put your swap file on the fat32 drive, as i heard something about how swapfiles aren't as fast on NTFS. don't know why everything else is faster though
I'm bringing geeky back...

Well as you probably figured out by all the posts, NTFS is faster. However you may want to check out jpbtennisman 's claim about Fat32 being faster for swap files. I cant imagine why, but you should check that out.
You just proved that sig advertisements work.

OK...now I'm really confused...
If it were just a huge drive with a swap file, nothing else, would I use NTFS or FAT32? I'll be running Win2k/XP Pro from the primary drive, NTFS of course.

Make sure EFS is disabled so it isn't encrypting/decrypting your swap file.

I've got EFS, and it makes no noticable difference. This PC is easily twice as fast with 2000 as it was under 98.

REally? Hmm....i would think that encrypting everything would take a while. Do you really need EFS? You might be able to get even more performance out of it if its off.

Basicall to turn EFS off you have to select The BS On/Off, put it on.
BS controls all the bulls h i t windows will now do to your computer.
Have Fun.
Ohh dont forget under NTFS with EFS Off and BS on you'll need SP2199(service pack 2199) to block the PCHM(Please Come Hack Me) security breach hole!
