How come VB is not consider a "real" development environment?

It's very easy to pick up, C++ programmers spend 10 minutes and think they've reached the limits of what VB can do. Also in early versions of VB there were lots of things you couldn't do. There's still a few things you can't do In VB, we're all waiting for VB7 and hoping you can do them.
