I will be giving out the source code once I am ready to do so. It's going to be a FREE OS. And it will be Open Source. However, do to people stealing code, I am not sending out my code just yet until I get it copyrighted. Once I have done this, then everyone will be able to see the code and they will be able to build upon my OS.
Bottom line, if you don't want to see this, then don't. No big deal. I only want to hear from people who know what they are doing anyways. I need feedback on how the video works on your machine. If it is sucsessful, then i will add it to the list of video cards this works with. So far I have found that Micron is the only brand card that this does NOT work with. Everything else so far has been promising.
I tried it (on my *****ty computer) and all I got was an error saying that the disk was invalid or not a system disk. Maybe you should put the stuff in the zip that is supposed to be there.

I ran it in a Windows 98 VMware session (the host OS was Windows 2000 SP2). And here's what happened:
Umm what was I supposed to do? I downloaded the zip, extracted it to a floppy disk, stuck the disk in the disk drive of my other computer and booted it up. It just told me that the disk wasn't bootable.
Ahh, I see what you did.. You put the files ON the floppy disk.. To make a disk bootable even in microsoft you have to run a prgram that does it. I supplied that. It's written in the readme file. However, i'll explain it here.
Once you have a floppy in your floppy drive, you run the BAT file that is in the ZIP file. Extract all of the files to your Hard drive somewhere. Run the batch file. You will see your floppy drive light come on and it will be showing you on your DOS prompt what it's doing. It will say DONE when it's done. Then you just reboot. It will come up with a red button on the bottom right, and then you hit a key and it will go into another screen with a message saying you did it right. If it worked, then that is another video card I won't have to program for. I appriciate you trying this though.
filburt1 - How did you do that? It's not supposed to run inside of windows. It's an OS by itself. It NEVER talks to your hard drive. Is your floppy drive the first thing your computer checks BEFORE it boots up? If it's not, then i now understand what happened.
Remember, this is ONLY a floppy OS for the moment. It is NEVER to talk to your hard drive.
Thanks guys. This is feedback I needed to hear. I will be makeing it more animated once I figure out how to talk to the keyboard without calling a BIOS routine.

Uh, I set up a Windows 98 virtual machine and ran it like it was a computer...what's there to explain? No offense, but I don't trust compiled code, especially something that could have assembly routines in it.
i dont mean to be inessively sceptical about this, but a 16kb OS... WITH, a theme, seems a little dodgy to me, if you dont mind me saying so and *cough cough*, the link tot he source code is in your sig
Only part of the source is in my sig. The only difference you will see at my site and in this OS is that this is graphics mode 12. The source I have for you all to test out on my website is a TEXT version interface. It was just a test.
Hope this info helps. And I guess I understand your point about a theme OS. It would seem dodgy in a way I guess. Here is a link that will help you better understand where I am comming from.
But it's all about LCARS and the NEW OS that is being created. Even hardware is being created for it. Right now, they are working on a windows type of version.
