Greetings!
You can download a beta of my new shell 'nGUI' by clicking here.
However, it doesn't replace or delete anything (see readme...txt!).

Nothing. It's just a program you can use as a new desktop. If you want you can copy it to the win folder and replace the shell=explorer.exe settings (system.ini) to have it as explorer... however, it's only a beta so there are no changes to your system.

After Doing this, would there be a way to restore the old desktop and everything else?

I say it again: It doesn't replace or modify anything. You cam start it, look how it is, click the exit button and you're back in windows. Trust me, it doesn't do any harm

No what I meant, when you are finished, and you replace it, would you need to reinstall windows?

The Beta works as a new desktop (make Icons, background picture aso.).

No, to change the shell ou onl have to modify the System.ini. However, you will be able to select which Shell you want to use.

Thanks for debugging, I'll fix it ASAP!

Fox, just about what i said about using setparent to put every app on top of yours, forget it. Put setparent to 0 instead so your app will go as a new desktop.
good luck!
