    From the AP:

    An unidentified man who used a parachute to glide above New York Harbor is seen snagged on the Statue of Liberty's upraised torch Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001 in New York, in this image from television. The man was pulled to safety by New York City Police officers on a deck directly below the torch just after 10 a.m. The red parachute had remained draped over the torch for about half an hour.
