Not "old enough" either, but sometimes, you can mistake a beer bottle for a soda bottle, its been known to happen...

I'm somewhat proud to be a Canadian--usually--but Canadian beer is something unrivaled when it comes to the liquid **** competition.

"who the hell said we drink warm beer?!?! Warm beer is yuk!"
You live in England. Which is the only country i've heard to serve you warm beer!
But gaffer pointed out to me that not all beer in pomgolia is warm.

My god you'd be crucified up here if you served warm beer!

This guy moved here from England whom i work with and he invited eeryone around for a bbq.
He bought all this beer and just left it out next to the barbie and handed it out when everyone arrived.
Everyone took one sip and almost in chorus was a *pffffffftssssst* "What the **** are your trying to do Bill Poison Us"
Never the less we cleared out his fridge and stuk there beer in there!

Not many Britz on this thread...?

It may be we are meant to mark with our riot and our rest
God's scorn for all men governing.

It may be beer is best.

But we are the people of England; and we have not spoken yet.

    G.K Chesterton.
Where are ye all ? There are people going on about beer with lime in in it for Hecks sake....

Are there no pureists out there ? Canada having the best beer ?

Eh ? Am I reading this right ??

I'm currently in Amsterdam... Next week in Brussels....

The beer here (Heineken, Groslch, Palm to name but a few)....

is cold, clear, pure and does not contain any limes.....

Now, each country will beleive their beer to be superior thats nationalism's fun side.... but I'm a UK national & I still don't think you can beat the likes of Heineken, Stella, Grolsh etc when served fresh....

    Cool (Real) beer

Hang on one moment. I voted for warm beer and I don't mind telling the rest of the world that you don't know what you're missing out on.

First let me qualify because when I say beer, I mean real beer, or more precisly, real ale. To educate most of the world (who obviously have no idea what I'm talking about), real ale has flavour. And like red wine, real ale is best drunk at room temperature otherwise you kill the flavour.

OK, when you're drinking some nat's piss of a lager, you need to chill it 'cause it tastes like sh*t otherwise.

Having said that, Real ale is dying out in Britain and it is a shame (being a member of the CAMpaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)). Tasteless lager (not even the good stuff) is taking over in pubs and bars where all people are concerned about is their image and getting drunk. Don't get me wrong though, I like a "good" lager, a nice cool bavarian beer is always a nice treat on a hot summers day.

Anyone who remains unconvinced, come and meet me at this year's Falmouth real ale festival (in Cornwall) and I'll show you what real ale's all about!

I'd be more concerned with the stripper than the temperature of my beer.

mmmmm personally, on the Real Ale front...

Nice pint of London Pride (that's better chilled in my opinion).... or Brakspears Special... nice beer, ale, quality most of it.......

    No limes, no fancy stuff.....

But lagers ? Ya cannot tell me that USA/CANADA/AUSTRALIA have even a balls-notion of what real lager is about. Bottled or otherwise.... Budweiser ???? is that a beer ? I thought it was just fizzy water. King of beers my A***E....

    Oh no not another acronym...

Oh no not another acronym... CAMRA I mean.

Lager must be cold, bitter should be warm or at most cool. But cider's the best, oo arr Jim Lad! Just no dead rats and stuff thanks.

But really guys, drinking beer off off a stripper: what a bloody waste because look how much gets spilt. And it gets all down your shirt and pisses off the Mrs. Unless it's the Mrs stripping of course. (Well we've all got to make a living somehow)

South African Breweries' "Castle Lager" was voted the world's best bottled bevvie last year or maybe the year before. Can't remember where tho': it says so on the tin but I don't have one to hand. (Well I AM at work after all.)

Oops must go, there's another lion in the car park.

Beer is best served cold on a sunny terrace in the middle of the old part of the city ... time to stop that sentence

Anyway, you are all entitled to your opinions but the best beer is still Belgian beer Trust me.

Duvel, Palm, Hoegaarden, Dentergemse, Leffe ...

Can I take it you've got a huge beard and always wear wellies?

I never could drink ale (with the possible exception of a pale ale). Beer should be cold and fizzy, golden rather than brown, and - for preference - brewed in Belgium.

Why are people obsessed with 'fizzy' beer? The onyl fizz in beer should be natural fizz provided by the fermentation process. These days, beers are usually pumped full of carbonated gas to artifically fizz them up.

I must admit though, I like belgium beers like Hoegaarden and Leffe. They are more like what lager should be.

    Arrow Cider

Hey simonm, thought you folk were into the Scrumpy out West there.
Not really. They do make exceedingly fine ales down here though, especially in Cornwall.

The best place to go for cider is to Brittany or Normandy in France. That really is nice stuff.

    BRITISH

Didn't bother to read all posts but in case I'm not represented.... cold beer is good, warm beer is bad... warm beer is sold to students thats how bad it is...

USA doesn't really compete with Europe in the beer stakes... whats the best you've got to offer??? Budweiser??

Sorry if this has already been said (as I know it is a popular opinion)

As this guy didn't read the previous posts, I shall say it again. NO!!!!!

OK, If you're talking about lager, that's true. With real ale, if you chill it, you're killing it. If you went to France and tried to chill a bottle of red wine, you'd be lynched! The same goes for England and real ale (except you wouldn't be lynched, people are too busy going around sipping their lager shandies to pay any attention).

USA doesn't really compete with Europe in the beer stakes... whats the best you've got to offer??? Budweiser??
err...Much as I hate to admit it, we (in the UK) are in no position to talk, particularly when it comes to lager. I can honestly say that British made lager is amongst the worst in the world. OK, American lager has no taste but that's still one step up from British lager that tastes like nat's piss.

What lager to we make here? Sh*t like: Carling black label, Carlsberg, Tennants and Heineken. Give me a budweiser any day compared to one of those!

I used to live in Germany (well West Germany). They drink warm beer. They even have kinderbier. I kind of think of beer for them is like coffee in America.

'Course, I don't drink beer or coffee. I don't like aquiring tastes. *shrug*

    Lager = Cold
Beer (REAL beer, for those non-brits) = Room temperature.

Not warm, room temperature. It should be basically cold but not CHILLED
