    website review

tell me what you think and if you have any suggestions. also looking for ways to improve it.

    www.motorcycleridersassoc.org

    mostly done in php.

I am all setup in the search engines, so no problem there, but want to find ways to get people to the site.

critisism constuctive or not is helpful.

    Hi scoutt,

I'm using a 17" monitor(1024x768) and the first page looks a little off center(right aligned), the background image is repeating on the right side of the page and the mouseovers on the navigation links are a little strange. When you move the mouse around in the link the div/layer kinda follows the motion. One more strange thing. When I minimize the browser window and move the mouse around in the text the bottom scroll bar increases and decreases in size. If I move it to the right it gets smaller, to the left it gets bigger.

Sorry for the nitpicking but I guess it's constructive.

    Otherwise....Nice Job

    Getting people to the site...

Try joining some Yahoo clubs and posting the link there. Some of Yahoo clubs have 3,000+ members in them. There's got to be some for motorcycles/bikers etc...

It's a free, cheap($0) and non spamming way of getting the word out...

ya it does that to me as well. seems that the way I use the tooltips it does it. every site that I got to that has that does the same thing. couldn't tell ya why though.

Chris, thanks for the yahoo tip. I didn't even think of that.

I will change my settings for the 1024x768 and see if I can fix it.

the div/layers are suppose to follow the mouse as they are not set to one space. I think it is setting to the x,y position of the mouse when it is over the links.

if you know of a way to fix it I'm all ears.

    thanks guys

so tell me, if I made the background th size of 1027x748 or so would if shrink down to 800x600 if soembody has that size? or will it run over and give you the scroll bar?

    scoutt,

Increasing the size should work. I made a background image 1152 x 864 and loaded it into a test HTML page as the background and it was fine on my screen, no scrollbars.

    Hi Scoutt
Site looks good and i hope u take what i say next as constructive and not picky

Your colour scheme is for want of a better word..emm... tries to be nice...emmmm ... well... lime green and orange????? Also, i wonder how easy it is to read lots of capitalized text.
Site is good tho for content and tricky mouseovers etc.

Oh how dare you say that in front of the screen

I ought ah ah ah ah ah.... oh nevermind.

I agree with ya on the most part. but the colors are the clubs colors, well sort of, they wanted green and orange but I tried other greens and blah I hate green, as far as the capitols go, well that is the way they write for the club. tell me about it, it is a ***** to raise the first letter on certain words and make the code clean and small, huh it is impossible.

but thanks anyway for taking a look at it. I am redoing the tooltips. I did another way that will work better.

ok guys, I fixed the tooltips. check it out and see if you get any errors and if it scrolls. it does if you go to the information page and hover over the last one it scrolls a little but that is it.

    Background pictures = bad
Excessive tables and colors = bad
    Other stuff = good

Think along the lines of my site at http://www.liquid2k.com/filburt1/passprog2 . Clean and fast-loading with to-the-point content.

    Arien,
it was not by choice that the colors are that way. that is the clubs colors. and what do you mean excessive tables and colors. the tables help align things and they work with all browsers.

oh I forgot, your site is plain, just black letters on white background.

    Hi again
Yeah, i dunno... there must be some other way to use these colours to make them somehow less *out there*. I am not criticising ur site .. i know you are stuck with the colours... but are u able to tell the club that they are gawd awful!! lol Are u restricted to only these colours or can u use more and reduce the use of the club colours? Do the clubs colours even need to be so prominent apart from a logo? sorry for going on about this but they are just such ugly colours and uglier when used together.

Also, have u considered moving some of the action photos to the front page as a *grab* to readers?

thanks and don't worry about critisizing my site. if you have a better way to use those colors I am all ears. I have tried the pictures in front and some other stuff, but since I changed to php and moved things around I gained a 15sec load time, ya it was a little slow before.
Last site was all orange and black with green. so I basically took out the black since it is hard on the eyes. (like green isn't)
anyway I will check out that site you sent landon11 and beachbum if you have a suggestion I am totally open to them.

think of it this way, it is my site I can do what I please, but have to stick to the club ways, does that make since.

Scoutt, just a suggestion, perhaps you could use the club colors in just the logo or something, and then have the rest of the page be more, um, lets say, appealing colors.

BTW, the colors are better. If you want, you might tone down the green a bit more, but other than that, the improvements you have made are great.
