I've been working on and off with RHT since '06 and I can highly recommend them. If you can write solid .NET and/or SQL code they have several contract jobs here in Cleveland (about 90 minutes from the Michigan border - 2-1/2 hrs to Detroit) starting around $30/hr depending on what you know. They have offices in MI as well but I don't know what they pay there. Cost of living is similar.

Lots of good advice in this thread - especially the stuff about winter. If you're going to move to a cold climate do it before the cold weather sets in so you get used to it slowly.
