    Object Library not registered

    I'm getting this error:

    Name: Untitled.png
Views: 1716
Size: 47.2 KB

    even after I register mscomctl.ocx with regsvr32.

    I'm running Windows 7 32 bit.

If that question and answer fits your scenario then that answer is not a correct solution.

The guy had failed to install VB6 properly, and almost certainly ended up running into the same problem with library after library. The "answerer" did him a huge disservice.

    Re: Object Library not registered

Well, I don't understand why it happens but every time I run a fresh installation of VB6 on different computers I run into trouble. Sometimes I can fix it after a few tries but this time, on the laptop, I just don't feel like trying any longer. I still can use VB6 at the desktop. But I'm seriously considering moving to .net, even if it means going through a tough time up the learning curve.

Also this is one of the reasons why I went from Windows 8 back to 7, and one of the reasons why I went from 64-bit back to 32-bit.

Do you run your VB6-IDE "elevated" (as Administrator)?

I never had any trouble after applying that setting on VB6.exe (manually, after the installation went through).
    I run the VB6-IDE on Win7, Win8, Win8.1...

    Re: Object Library not registered

Well, I've tried every suggestion in this thread as well as those linked to, to absolute no avail.

I thought there might be some conflict with Visual Studio 2013 that I downloaded from Microsoft and installed recently. But I have both 6 & 2013 working fine in a different computer.

A new VB6 installation didn't work either so, time to reinstall Windows I guess. If only I could be sure that's going to work...

    Re: Object Library not registered

I've finally solved the issue but I'm going to post the details in a new thread.
