I'm not trying to vindicate anything - I still have customers using my VB6 apps.
Most of my customers consider the hardware / OS / database and ultimately what client tools they use. What version of Office to support? How long can we live with MS SQL 2005 (not long!). Maybe it's just the enterprise nature of the apps I sell - or the old-school IT departments that run these places.
It's a feather in my cap to offer a non-VB6 solution to my current VB6 clients. Granted part of that is the age-old "you wrote something in Basic?!?!?" that I've lived with for 30 years.
