I need some help with this VB thing. I'm concidering buying Visual Basic 6.0, but I can't find out which version to buy. Standard or Professional or whatever. Of cource I would like to have the Enterprise version, but I haven't got a fortune to spend on it. I've thought about the Professional Edition, but which version would you suggest? I would say that I'm a mediate programmer...
Is it better to wait till the next VB version comes? And in this case, when will that be?
PS : Am I allowed to sell the programs I develop in the standard or professional editions?

i think you're better off buying the pro-version. sooner or later you are going to need features, not provided by the standard-version. i heard it will take another year until the release of VB7, the question is, do you want to wait?
have a close look at each product's feature list, your current programming skills and your plans on imroving your skills. this should help you to figure out which product to choose.
best regards

I think there is a hardly any difference between Professional edition and Enterprise edition. The enterprize edition contains some extra applications for analyzing your software's perfomance etc. and nothing mor.
I think you should go for VB 6 PRO.

True,
If you only get standard you miss out of half the componants (most of the DB stuff)

Thanks for the advice, but I still have one question unanswered : Am I allowed to sell the products I develop in VB, no matter what version I buy?
And one other thing...I have already tried to find such a feature list, but you know MS websites Impossible to find what you are looking for... Can someone help me find it?
Thanks again

Seth,
Here is a link to Microsoft's site about the different features in each version of VB. I've been asking the same question and reading the License Agreement, but I still can't find out for sure the sell apps thing.

There should be no reason why you can't sell the programs that you create. If you ever noticed, quite a few apps that you buy include the VB runtime library.
