If you're migrating to .NET, ideally you should be looking at higher level aspects of the Framework, like XML Web Services and Remoting - which are probably doing already what you're trying to implement manuallywith Sockets...

No,Im not an ex vb6 developer migrating to .net...I just knew basics of vb6 but more of java and then jumped into .net and ive been working on this for a while....but now,I want to make this existing application which Ive made in vb.net work over the network too.. Please help..

uhh.... Yeah...umm... I'd like a code example... for connecting thru TCP/IP... lol ive found examples aswell...but they didnt work....
*waves his hand in a jedi fasion* " give me an example for a connect to server on button click, you will." *then force pushes a member and runs"*
The thing im creating is a Chat client... for me and my friends... which would connect to a remote server...in a galaxy far far away... (lol,sorry couldnt resist).

I wonder if someone can just explain me these buffer,byte conversions and stuff...Its screwing me up..or please guide me to a tutorial...like how do I send a simple text message,,,what are the conversions needed? Any tutorial available for a tcpip baby? please helpp

lol... yeah... anything at all would suffice....
maybe one with a button style connect...lol for me anyways...
