It does seem that he took "Form over function" a little too far.

My opinion: just stick with IE, Mozilla, or Nutscrape.

*** is this "Restart Program" mesage? I get it every time I start the program. It's not a very good browser. I think I'll stick to my multibrowse, or maybe this little known browser called Internet Explorer! Maybe you should make a browser with features that other browsers don't have, along with all the features they do have.

ProgTom -- Why don't you start over and program the navigation (back, forward, refresh) code before anything else. Add a history, favorites and other standard features. Then, and only then, think of some really unique feature and put it in your browser; however, don't just start adding "cool" features and ActiveX controls. I don't need a calendar, a calculator, and an astronomy toolkit in my browser. I need something streamlined and nearly invisible that views websites. (He steps down and puts away his soapbox.)

agreed, invisibility in a browser is good, you need a few buttons and an address bar. No fancy colors unless its somethin like hotbar.

Before you can hope to get users to use, let alone buy your program, you have to support all of the features in IE, Nutscrape, and Mozilla. THEN do extras, like tabbed windows or an MDI interface, different sidebars, etc.

Poor prog_tom. Not a single really good comment. But maybe there's a reason.
It, after all, IS just the WebBrowser (IE) with a new, crappy interface.

You know, ProgTom hasn't commented for a while. I sure hope that our "constructive" criticism didn't do any permanent harm... to him or the browser.

yeah, i think we should take it a little easier on him. After all he isn't a professional programmer or anything, he does this for fun and I know he doesn't appreciate everyone mocking his program. He is trying the best he can so lets just give him a chance.

Well, when you call yourself a lead programmer and give a resolution report saying "we're" working on it, oh, and post some pseudo-legal terminology regarding the software, he sure is trying, albeit poorly, to sound professional.
If you want to pre-release software under the guise of it being a professional team project, you have to expect comments like this. If he would've said he was working on something for fun and wanted some feedback, the situation would be different.
Forum karma I guess ;-)

Mortivan's right. Although that "pseudo-legal" stuff needs a little work to sound professional.

Exactly. If IE, Nutscrape, and Mozilla all have the same features (or at least a ton of features), why would I switch to a different browser with so few features and that just uses IE's rendering engine anyway?
