    Exclamation Science Question 2

    If everything on this earth is either solid, liquid or gas. Then what state of matter are the flames of a fire?

    There's also plasma, and fire is energy, thus a particle and also a wave, very much like light from a light-bulb.

    The wave-particle duality theory explains it all, so ask Einstein!!!

    And yes... light can act as a particle, remember in chemistry class when the teacher shined the flash light on the spinldle with the four rectangular slits with black/white sides, and when that same teacher took the piece of paper with holes in them and showed the light beams fluxing.

    I had this explained to me before but i cant remeber correctly.

    I think it went something like:

    The flame is actually super-heated particles of soot. They glow that redy orange colour coz they are so hot. The actual flame continues up further than what is visible.

    Or something similar also depends on what type of fire it is on?
    I.e Gas is different to wood!

    ok sorry i was wrong it is GAS:
    Although i wouldnt be surprised if there was soot or ash in some wood fires.

    When a material burns in air, it reacts with oxygen so it heats up. When the gases are first produced from the material they are so hot that they emit light as they float away from the fire they cool down and stop producing the light.

    Well the flame itself would be a gas, but all we can SEE is the light from the reaction itself, which is taking place in that gas.
    You just proved that sig advertisements work.

    subatomic particles. The way atoms/Ions are bound to each other classifies them in liquid/solid/gas. Plasma is just ionized gas
